HP Microserver+XPEnology

5.2-5644 is out
Anyone brave enough to give it a go :D

Xpenology forums are saying its safe, but the devs are warning that until they've assessed the changes not to update... basically, update if you have the balls as it appears to work and the apps all work but be it on your head!

Think I have asked before but got no answer
Can I add another 6TB drive to my existing pool of 4 drives?
i.e. Can I add a 6TB to the optical sata port as part of my SHR pool? :)

With the minor updates to dsm, do you need to create a new boot USB.. Erm "xpenoboot", or does the fact it's still 5.2 mean its still ok?

I'll ask further, is the existing SHR pool made up of 6TB drives or would this be the first? If so, you'll effectively lose that drive to parity and release a 4TB for storage, i.e. you'll have 16TB storage not 18TB, but then you can then upgrade the other 4 drives to 6TB over time easily.

Yep then you'll get the increase you where expecting by adding a new drive! You can add up to 12 drives in the current version without issue, as long as you have the ports/SAS connectors!

Hi guys, could anyone let me know or point me to a guide how to update dsm version please. I am currently on DSM 5.2-5565 and i'm wanting to upgrade to DSM 5.2-5644.

Cheers.

I would/am waiting on a new bootloader
Last time i was too eager and lost access untill a new bootloader was released :)

I just setup the Synology Cloud package and connected my desktop to it that is on the same local network but I cant seem to connect my android phone to it. No matter what I try it always says 'Connection failed' which doesn't give me a lot to go on for troubleshooting.

Is there some trick to connecting devices that aren't on the same local network as the NAS?

Ive setup xpenology but now i dont want to wipe my backup drive with all my data on them,
can i still use them without wiping the drives ?
