HP Reverb G2 uk release date?

Apologies if this was already posted amongst the IPD distraction, but here's the latest info from Bestware who are the German distributor...

https://www.reddit.com/r/HPReverb/comments/jn8zkg/bestwares_update/

First batch will only cover those who ordered on or before 8th July.

Thanks.

Well, I hate to be negative, but this is looking more and more like my worse fears. I`m beginning to get the feeling most of us won`t be seeing the G2`s until after Christmas. I can already see the potential "covid" excuses in that message.

Before July? Jesus christ.
They said mid November for people who ordered before the 25th of September.

I reallllly hope we won't have an Index situation, where people who preordered in late December were still waiting in August

Yes, because you can only argue if I decide to. And I shall not.
Deal with it.

You can't come onto a forum and make sweeping statements that if you have the wrong IPD you will damage your eyes and that the Quest 2 is the worst of them all without been challenged,

The fact that you won't enter into any discussions about it tells me all I need to know.

Thanks.

I'm going to email SystemActive tomorrow and see what they've heard and if we're in a similar boat in the UK I may very well cancel. Would give me time to get a new GPU to power new VR properly and might pick it up for cheaper down the line. I really don't give a toss about global demand, the pre-order was advertised as me getting the G2 on release not at some stage and the pre-order numbers should not have exceeded a capacity they were comfortable meeting.

Yea. i`m having very similar feelings myself. I could use that money for a nice GPU too. I feel like we`ve been strung along all the way... But I hope you get good news from them.

So what are my chances with my Sept 15 pre order?

I hoped for end of November but...I will be lucky if I get it this year it seems. I hope they surprise us with new batches every week at least.

I didn't order while July 22nd and SystemActive confirmed I was in the first "batch" via email. I've also received an email from them saying that they think their shipment is on the way and should arrive around the 14th of November.

I emailed the spanish partner today asking if they had an update yet and they replied with a link telling me how to cancel my order

not tremendously helpful

LOL that was great customer service!! Must have been having a bad day with loads of people complaining about the delay. :p

When did you order?

For those that are interested, I emailed SystemActive last night and they got back to me first thing this morning confirming the fears. He took my order number, which I made on Sep 12th while there was still the promise of release day delivery and told me it'd be early December "all being well" before I get one.

This isn't their fault, and HP have dealt with this abysmally and have basically left the suppliers up a certain alley. He told me they are being told nothing, and HP are taking no responsibility for the shortages and are basically burying their heads in the sand.

I said I'd give it another week to see if I have a proper delivery estimate and I'd review my position then, but I really begrudge giving money to companies that have directly lied to get early sales.

Considering this is a really good headset from what I've seen online, and the backlog with the Index as well, i feel cancelling now with a possibility of a delivery next month would be unwise.
But most definitely incredibly annoying. I suppose the demand was indeed higher than expected.
Maybe the Chinese factories are not as fast assembling as expected?

I`m not gonna beat about the bush. We British can be too polite sometimes.
Everyone should not expect to receive anything until the New year and i`m saying mid, late January 2021 if all goes well. I hope I`m wrong. I doubt it.

This will be the last time I make pre-orders with my hard earned cash. I stopped with games long ago, but didn`t expect this with actual physical products.

To be honest I blame Zuckerburg and Facebook. It was only because of what he did with Mandatory facebook that I got rid of my Rift S and caused me this discomfort.

I won`t cancel yet, but I`m considering hard my options now.

You blame Facebook for everything. You made up crap about damaging your eyes with the wrong IPD and that the Quest 2 is the worst.

And now you are blaming Facebook for HP not delivering on time.

Mandatory Facebook for the Rift S, Quest and Rift Civ 1 only comes in 2023. You have only yourself to blame for having no headset right now.

Def not blaming SystemActive for this - but.....they have been telling us stuff that sounded like hard facts, but may have only been speculation. They repeatedly said that people in the first wave would get the device Day One. That's not likely, and probably not even week one. (Not that anyone has said what Day One actually meant - there wasn't a release date - more a release season (Autumn)). I highly suspect that HP led some of that speculation, so the fault isn't all SA's IMO.

HP have told SA next to nothing - sometimes they are learning things from Reddit the same time we are. I ordered on the 6th of July, so with a good prevailing wind, I should be in the first or second batch - I've no idea how many sold the first day, it might be 1,000's.

To change the subject a little, I saw that Mike from VR oasis has his hands on a final version and from Tyriel's reply to the tweet is sounds like he's got his one too.

Hopefully we can at least get some review content from the final units soon.

I've only got positives to say about SA. They were obviously given a number by HP of pre-orders they could sell that would be fulfilled for release which has subsequently been botched and they can't even be bothered to keep their supply partners in the loop. Although the regular updates from SA might not have included much solid info at least they were trying to make us feel like we mattered in all this. From the replies I got this morning I get the impression that SA are far from happy with HP over all this.

I haven't really had any dealings with them other than placing my order but it's clearly not their fault.... I'm still not going to give HP a hard time over the delay but I think their communication could certainly have been(and could still be!) significantly better. While I could sympathise with their original reluctance to set a solid date for launch give the current world situation and prior bad experiences with the G1 launch too, to be this late in the day and still not be giving out a solid date that customers who ordered months ago can expect to actually get their headset is bizarre and mildly infuriating.

I'm not going to lose sleep over the delay itself, but I just want them to tell me when I can expect it to arrive now. If this month then I'll hold off, but if it's going to bleed into December or later then I want to go pick up that Q2 to keep me busy.
