HP Reverb G2 uk release date?

I'm personally looking forward to Virtual Reality Oasis and Tyriel Wood's view - they seem a little less Fanboyish. I like MRTV, but he sounds like a commercial. He also didn't mention that he didn't have working controllers until he was pushed - he was using the old reverb handsets.

Agree but Oasis seems to be the MRTV equivalent for Oculus Quest.

All content will be interesting to see, but of the ones so far I’m mostly interested in Tyriel and Norm from tested (especially since he was a little luke warm on the pre production unit compared to the others).

I used to really like mrtv, but he seems to be very biased now on most of his reviews and just too over the top for the hp reverb.
If his pre-production unit was so good why did they change the lenses for the production model, either it still had issues or they have swapped them to lower quality lenses

I didn`t know that. The devil`s in the details, eh?

But I will agree and he does seem somewhat biased, but that`s why I check several videos. It`s kind of hard to get away from bias to Oculus or bias to HP or some other VR. I suspect they are nearly all being supported by the company they lean to in one way or another so as one should, you should get what info you can from them all and discern the truth for myself.

You blame Facebook for everything. You made up crap about damaging your eyes with the wrong IPD and that the Quest 2 is the worst.

And now you are blaming Facebook for HP not delivering on time.

Mandatory Facebook for the Rift S, Quest and Rift Civ 1 only comes in 2023. You have only yourself to blame for having no headset right now.

A mandatory facebook account was needed after October of this year unless you all ready had an Oculus account.
If you all ready had an Oculus account you can carry on using your device until 2023 like you said.
Sorry for off topic.

You do realise that good can always be made better right? An improvement doesn't always mean what went before was awful.

Unfortunately it's become extremely common to be excessively cynical for the sake of it... I like a healthy dose of scepticism as much as the next guy but when there is absolutely no evidence to support the cynical point of view it gets a little much.

The pre-production headsets got (afaik) universal praise for having good quality lenses, the VR design team themselves at HP said that they believed they could do better still and made the decision to improve them further. To quote "why did we make another version of the optics? simply because we felt we could do better."

Those are literally the only things known, but immediately they were jumped on by people claiming either that they were cutting costs and cheaping out on the lenses after having baited us with high quality pre-production models, or conversely claiming the previewers must have been lying because otherwise why bother improving the lenses.

Not everything has to be a conspiracy theory! As you say, why settle for good when you can make excellent instead (especially true perhaps when you just had an enormous competitor launch a significantly cheaper VR headset which you now have added pressure to justify your expensive product against!).

Yes, thanks, I understood that was the case. Sorry for not been more clear, I was talking about people who already had headsets.

My Bad!!

Communication by HP is very much still a problem it seems. Looking at reddit, people who pre ordered in July are getting emails from retailers that they will probably get it in January.

I'm starting to worry that my Mid september preorder will come in February...

I would not be in the slightest surprised now. System Active is keeping nervously quiet now as it`s clear the G2 won`t be arriving 2nd week November or in week 3 or 4... I recon 2nd week in January 2021 if we`re lucky.

The world has never been smaller and communication has never been easier, but big business still thinks we aren't worth an email or 2 after we've shelled out £600. It's all fairly despicable.

Edit: Not a dig at SA

Yea. Over half a grand might not mean much to some, but it means much to me and HP should reflect some respect to the customer for putting that money out front. I mean how much is that when you consider all the pre-orders from the UK alone?

Some people say on reddit that apparently HP tried to wait and do a bulk delivery of all preoders, but it backfired and instead they will start properly delivering now as it's made.

So some people expect theirs next week, a bit more pessimistic people straight up think it will be February.
sigh.

Fingers crossed for a surprise.
Christmas will be lonely without family this year, I was hoping for a VR headset at least.

Let’s not get carried away with the rampant pessimistic speculation eh lads?

from this video, so nicely summarised by a Reddit poster that I have shamelessly stolen his text:

“Key takeaway on shipping, they basically said that they tried to structure the shipments to be more of a bulk release but that didn't quite work out. They stuck to their statement that preorders will get their G2 in November or December, but said that the cutoff they promised (Sept 24) may or may not be fully achieved.”

I am a bit worried that they are not coming with UK plugs. I hope that is just because they are getting early units. If I buy a uk product I expect a UK plug

Don't worry about it, they are required to.... first batch allegedly only had US plugs which is one of the reasons why EU and UK missed out, they wouldn't have cared for the purposes of the reviewers but law requires them to sell it with a UK plug in the UK.

Thanks for that. It`s something at least.
