Must I spell it out? Christmas Holidays/bank Holiday, then New Year. Everything goes on hold/slows right down over this period.

Also it says END of December. It`s like you`re reading what you want to believe different, not the word infront of your eyes.

That's the way I read it too. Order now, expected delivery end of December. Those that already have orders in are likely to get them between now and the end of December.

First deliveries should be arriving next week according to the info above.

From Bestware.. Since we recently received the first specific information on the delivery quantities from HP, we would like to inform you again about the status of your HP Reverb G2 pre-order.

With the first delivery from HP, which is expected to reach us next week, we will only be able to deliver to the first 13% of our pre-orders - which includes pre-orders until 8th July at 9:27 pm. Pre-orders after this time can be served with the following deliveries.

That sounds like the same info I posted last week or whenever. I got the impression that it was air freight, which might (hopefully) explain the limited initial volume.
 
Actually, if you go to the systemactive G2 web page, it's now saying the device in on back order. Gone is the info on the two pre-order batches (before and after 24-th of September). It's my understanding that pre-orders with a reasonably fixed shipping date are over. Perhaps HP has a number of units they want to sell as pre-orders and that number has been reached by HPs partners. Hence systemactive closed pre-orders. I mean, one can still "pre-order", but with no date on when it is to be shipped. Does this mean I (second batch order) will get my device before or after the new year? I don't know for sure, but I hope this change of pre-orders is a sign that HP is trying to manage the number of orders it has to fulfil, so maybe it's a good sign. Maybe not.

Correction. I've been looking at the wrong web page. This is the right one. It says shipping towards the end of December.

So does this mean the whole of second batch is delayed, or is this "the third batch"? I am lost.

HP Press Release September 24th, 2020

  • Customers who have already pre-ordered the HP Reverb can expect to receive their shipments this fall, starting in early November 2020. Pre-orders are expected to be prioritized for the time/date the order was made to our channel partners.
  • Demand has been high so all pre-orders made starting today, September 24 will start arriving to customers from channel partners in early December.

HP has not given us any updates regarding pre-orders made after September 24th.

Basic reviews so far.

Here's a rough summary, in no particular order and compared to the Rift S.

More comfortable
Smaller Sweet spot.
Better Audio
Much better clarity in the sweet spot.
No SDE
Same FOV
Worse Controllers
Worse Tracking
WMR setup isn't as straight forward.

To me it looks like the software just needs an update and any tracking issues/setup issues will get ironed out.
 
Sorry for confusion in my post on pre-orders.

Both systemactive and Bestware now say that pre-orders are to be shipped late December. Best guess scenario - 3 batches. Batch 1 everybody who ordered before 24.09.20 - is being delivered now. Batch two - 24.09.20-09.11.20 to be delivered sometime in December. Batch 3 10.11.20 - to be delivered towards the end of December. But realistically, I would expect batch 3 to be delivered in 2021, because I would consider it a miracle if batch 2 gets delivered before the end of the year. :( Oh well...

If I am correct, then there could be batch 4 of pre-orders, then batch 5... Who knows when G2 will make it into retail stores, so that you could just walk in try it and buy it. What prevents HP from continuing with pre-orders as long as their manufacturing capacity is maxed out? Same thing with GPUs.

With my mid September order I might end up getting it in March :/

And I think I might have to order a 3080 as well.

I would not be so pessimistic.
Bestware said their first shipment from HP would cover something like 13% of pre-orders. If they get these (or a touch larger) shipments every week, we need just 6-7 weeks.

Bestware and systemactive are now accepting pre-orders promising a delivery by late December. If it was that pessimistic as you suggest, these pre-orders are such a blunt lie that I struggle to think they would go for it.

We were going to wait until we knew the units had been shipped from Factory on Friday 13th before we gave an update as we have been misinformed a number of times before. However, we have received so many calls and emails in the last two days that we decided to put this out there and update again on Friday.

We had a meeting with HP today (November 10th, 2020) and were told shipment from factory to the UK of first pre-orders will begin November 13th , 2020. Once we have proof units have left the factory for shipment to the UK we will provide our customers with an update on numbers and date of delivery to them.
