Well, I'm very much enjoying my touchpad.

The only other tablets I've used are a crappy Hanspree and an Ipad2 for a few mins. It compares very well (imo). It's obviously lacking apps but other than that, it's pretty awesome.

Received my Dixons 32 GB bundle today - ordered at about 1515hrs on friday

my one was number 636 of 790

and version 3.0.2

all the above on the box by the way - now to open.... :)

Poor packaging though - boxes all bent and torn in places :(

Just tested it out, absolutely smooth (I'm overclocked to 1.5GHz)

It was also a good demonstration of how good the sound on the TP is, watched it holding the TP on my palm and there was almost a rumble effect as the cars went by:)

Result if I can find one I'll purchase it! Its a good way to show clients my videos

Well, that was a complete and utter waste of time. Not that I was expecting anything else.

The 16 GiB went OOS almost immediately, and the button for the 32 GiB did one of two things for me: (i) 503 Service Unavailable, or (ii) nothing at all.

Back to grasping at straws with CPW, then...

I went into CPW in Dundee yesterday to see a lovely touchpad on display. The first time I've ever seen one :)

Anyways, the nice chap behind the desk informed me that they do not expect any in soon. If they do get a delivery it'll be a small one, and the staff have already earmarked them for themselves.

At least he was honest and I have no issues with this in the slightest.

I've given up the chase, but still check in the slight hope.

After playing with Win8 Dev, I have to say I think I'm waiting for a win8 tab.....

make sure you choose the right machine then.

if you look carefully you will see that only the Intel x86 ones will run windows programs.

the arm based tablets will be app only like all tablets with arm are now.

oh and personally I hate the UI on wine it looks like a big phone and looks like you can't modify its look at all.

I... have... a TouchPad!!! Is this a dream? *Bites arm.* Ouch!

Good lord, it's real! I can barely believe it. Last one in Cardiff, apparently. 16 GiB, but that'll do!

Now, the question is, where to buy accessories? hp.com says "normally available within 2 weeks"... Really, or are they all gone? I want a TouchStone! :)

The one I picked up today shows as:

HP TOUCHPAD,EU,32G,1.2Ghz,WIFI,EFIGS
SW: 3.0.2

Are there any essential apps I should grab, bought it for the missus, so maybe an ereader, media player and officey type app?

Also I was offered a touchstone and case for £54 in CPW seemed a tad high, what kind of prices are these available for now?

Bought a £1 neoprene ipad case for it in the meantime :p

Open Office for the officey type app (haven't used it properly yet but was updated shortly after the firesale started).

£54 for a Touchstone and Case is a good deal! Should've bitten their arms off to get em.

Edit: I say that as the price is competitive, within a few quid of most other stockists, and they're getting hard to find in stock (as far as I'm aware having been searching for a 2nd Touchstone for my mates TP).

No more 16GB left so I thought might as well get 32GB for a few quid more!

Would it not really have been better for cpw to sell their touchpads online. They could have overcharged us on postage and the staff would not get a staff discount which I assume they will receive.

Postage was free on their previous online Touchpads and the whole website was brought down. Selling them in the retail outlets is the obvious way forward, stops any online disruption and keeps the staff happy when they get the pick of the Touchpads.
