I am wondering whether there is a better chance of picking one up now from one of the larger resellers, such as the DSG (not sure about Comet) who have their supplies shipped in directly from HP in China, rather than from one of the smaller outfits who buy from wholesalers?

Just a thought anyway!

Well, I'm regularly checking alibaba which is probably the biggest wholesale platform in China and the region ... there were plenty of bulk offers (e.g. min.quantity is 3-5 pieces), even in UK. However, they are not escrow accounts which pretty much mean they're probably fraud and I don't want to risk ^_^

Lots of posts / rumors that RIM might firesale the playbook at half price, they are selling to employees at that price.

Before you jump on though there is no email / contacts etc at the moment but its due next month.

So maybe prices of £160/£200 to £250ish some time soon (going by Amazon prices).

I still wouldn't urge anyone to buy one.

Ha! It's just what I was talking about a few pages back! If you've let your chief competitor get 80% of the market, it doesn't matter if your product is any good (or not, as the case may be for the Playbook), you just can't compete at the same price point!

I would say, imo, that the Touchpad is one of the best devices ever made,

I think that's going a bit far.

Money no object, there are several devices I'd have in preference to a TouchPad - and that's coming from someone who has 5 Touchpads and rates WebOS near the top of mobile OS'es.

But yes, it's certainly better than a playbook.

Yeah if money was no object it would have to be an Ipad 2 for me. Although a friend of mine recently purchased a Galaxy Tab and that was very impressive!

The only thing that attracted me to the Touchpad was the price.

After ordering a 32gb bundle last Friday from pcw I waited til wednesday with no dispatch email. Ended up with this on wed evening

And then this happened on Friday :(

Now stuck with an iPad 2 4.3.5 which cannot be downgraded/ jailbroken. Have managed to get preware with all patches/ updates, kalemsoft MP, advanced browser and mediasync which all work flawlessly with everything I throw at it. The iPad is clearly faster/ more responsive for general web usage but the TP is £150 (+accessories) cheaper. Which to keep?

With Android very near for the touchpad on dual boot (almost working perfectly http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8IVkj_vdY6s ) I would keep that and dump the ipad myself

Hard to say really. I view the ipad as the finished product and the Touchpad as a work in progress.

Side note: As sexy as Ipads are I'm not sure the toilet roll on standby was required :p
