**HTC HD2 Thread**

Dammit, dropped mine last night and the touch screen became rather unresponsive! Left it into O2 earlier... hopefully they won't have too much issues with the bumps and scrapes on it!

How do people find running android on the device? I'm thinking of doing this over the weekend as i'm getting a bit bored of the stock phone. Are there any issues to be aware of in regards to running android? Any thing i won't be able to do which i can with the stock HD2?

I'm running Android as a daily on my HD2.

I have tried a few different builds to find one that works best for me.

Issues at the moment:
- Battery life is poor, average use just about makes it through the day (music, web browsing, texts and calls)
- FM Radio doesn't work properly
- Data transfer is a bit slower than WinMo. PPP is fast (but buggy) and when it works I have connection issues with O2 when using it so I stick to RMNET.

Make sure you have a good base ROM and radio as these impact performance and battery life a bit.

Depending which build you go for you will not lose any major functionality and will gain some new stuff and its pretty cool.

Is there an issue with the face-book app on windows mobile with this device?

TC.

It works, as in, it lets you go on Facebook...but it is rubbish compared to the iPhone and Android implementation.

When I was running Windows Mobile as a daily ROM, I always used http://m.facebook.com or http://touch.facebook.com as the app was just lacking in functionality.

Thanks for the links mate.

My major issue is that the app will not update unless I log out/log in again! And it will only update the one time when I log back in.....

has anyone got a super guide for installing Andriod on this phone?

There is a pretty complete guide on XDA Developers. Look through the stickies in the HD2/Leo subforum. Essentially it is :

- HSLP
- Update Radio
- Update WinMo ROM to one of the Android friendly ROMs
- Copy Android build of choice to the SD card and run

How many people have swapped their HD2 for a Desire HD then? :p

I'm still rocking my HD2! No intention of changing just yet, though I did have a play with a Windows Phone 7 based device and was pretty impressed. Maybe we'll get a port on the HD2 for a triple boot :p

As a side note, anyone on O2 running Android having problems sending and receiving MMS ? I have tried several builds and all have the same problem! Everything else (calls, data, SMS) work fine!

Ive had a Vanilla HD2 for a few months now & found Winmo a bit restricting with regards to apps & support plus the interface is a bit bland.

Been testing Android on it for a few weeks now & am well impressed, everything works except a couple of major things like 720p video recording & MMS, though these are being worked on by the chefs.

Androids really frustrating me, I stick anew build on, works perfect for 5/6 days then the phone starts to reboot all the time. Stick another new build on and its fine again for 5/6 days then.... windows works fine, doesn't reboot.

Wonder if I have an issue with the sd card in mine?

The app on the device is rubbish. I currently use FIM. Its better than the installed app, but still not as good as the iphone one :/

I applied the lastest update on my phone on monday. Since then I have been getting message delivery reports even though I have unchecked the box on the options menu in messages :/

Anyone know how I can disable this?! I do not want to be charged for this!

Would like to hear from anyone who has had problems with the current update as well... as probably not related, but have had a bad line/undeliverable messages ever since the update (could be Orange).

Thanks :)

HSLP? That's what I said? :p

That looks impressive! Very promising. Any information links for builds etc? I haven't come across any yet.

Nah it's still early days - plus I think even when it 'does' get released - it's probably going to be pretty crippled due to the way devices have to be activated, to be able to use most of the features (Marketplace etc).

Cool nonetheless.

Still got my HD2. Most of my friends have the Desire but I love my HD2.

I've had Android running on it since August and it's fantastic. Managed to ditch Vodafone after their 500Mb T&C debacle. I've had a look at other phones, but my HD2 does everything I need it to do.

Darkstone has just discontinued his android builds, so I might try another build just for the sake of it.
