That is the original way to root before 1 click with flashrec etc. I wouldn't want to risk it myself tbh.
tonyyeb, the info in your post on the XDA forums, the goldcard stuff, be careful. Looking at the instructions they mostly mention 32A not 32B.
Upgrading from 4.1.99 or higher:
Download the latest ROM and place it onto the root of your sdcard.
Magic32A users follow these additional instructions.
Boot into Recovery Mode.
Choose the "Apply any zip from sd" option.
Select the CyanogenMod ROM that you want to upgrade to.
Follow the on-screen instructions.
If your phone gets stuck on the Android/CyanogenMod screen while booting:
Hold the power button for about 10 seconds. If the "Phone Options" menu appears, close it and use your phone as normal.
If not, remove your battery and boot into Recovery Mode.
Select "Nandroid Backup"
Select "Restore Backup"
Reboot your phone.
