***HTC Magic Thread***

I think ill give up for now. I'm sick of reading about gold cards, rooting methods and various people bricking their phones. Ill be the resident 'Stock 1.6 guy'. Until the official 2.0 Eclair version comes out of course.

I got my magic today. Off the bay with Cyanogen 4.2.5 and a load of apps preinstalled. Some that were paid for too! And i got it for less than £175. No bad tbh.

Loving it so far. Goodbye to the N97.

Question, is google checkout the only way to pay for apps on the market?

tonyyeb, the info in your post on the XDA forums, the goldcard stuff, be careful. Looking at the instructions they mostly mention 32A not 32B.

Don't worry bud, I'm not doing anything. I'm sticking with official releases for now. Ill wait until another OcUKer has a 1.6 and manages to downgrade successfully before I even think about doing it again.

Had a tidy up of my phone last night, uninstalled about 20 apps that i've used once or twice and it is much speedier. No waiting for the home screen to load any more. Made me like my phone that bit more :)

Ok now i want a cradle, like i've seen in this thread. Had a look round and they are either black or cheap looking. :(

Email in trust if you know where to find the good looking ones. :)

Thanks

The white ones in this thread were whitened by mrk using a can of plasti-kote paint I think. Not seen any white ones for sale, not that I've looked that much as I bought a black one since my phone only goes on it at night and since it's dark it could be rainbow coloured for all I care.

Would be different if I had mine on my computer table like mrk seems to.

Ah ok. Hmmm, theres gotta be a decent white one out there somewhere..... I'll keep looking.

Anyone care to share some good themes (on Cyan 4.2.5 if it makes any difference) :)

I'll give this a go tomorrow. Does it keep your settigns and app or does it wipe everything?

Oooh. I just need to check I know how to upgrade a cyanogen mod. :p

This it?
Upgrading from 4.1.99 or higher:
Download the latest ROM and place it onto the root of your sdcard.
Magic32A users follow these additional instructions.
Boot into Recovery Mode.
Choose the "Apply any zip from sd" option.
Select the CyanogenMod ROM that you want to upgrade to.
Follow the on-screen instructions.

If your phone gets stuck on the Android/CyanogenMod screen while booting:
Hold the power button for about 10 seconds. If the "Phone Options" menu appears, close it and use your phone as normal.
If not, remove your battery and boot into Recovery Mode.
Select "Nandroid Backup"
Select "Restore Backup"
Reboot your phone.

Umm its a 2gb Transend card that came with the phone, dont say what class it is though. Was gonna grab an 8gb class 6.

If i do can the data just be copied over or is it not that simple?

I've just done a backup. :)
