***HTC Magic Thread***

Can you browse the net though??...if you can then its usually the app that can get stuck...sometimes ive had an app get stuck so ive stopped it and then tried re-downloading it.

If you cant browse the net then its a network problem so give Voda a ring and see what they say.

Thanks for your help, seems to have cleared now though!! :). seems it may have been a network problem as about a dozen emails arrived about the same time.

Tis a standard USB mini cable so yeah should be fine, I'm using the Canon 40D USB cable on my Magic as the cable is longer so is nicely tucked under the external HDD when not in use, the HTC cable stays in the car as I can charge it from the stereo's USB port for quick charges.
Course. :)

Those cradles and inserts should be fine but do note that a white one also exists so would look nicer :p
Sweet! Will keep an eye out for that one then.

Mine activated at 3pm today :)

Just a couple of questions, is there anyway to get the phone to vibrate and actually show when you have a new message/email when in silent mode?

Download SMS Pop app from the Market.

Its free and you can set all sorts of notifications.:)

Downloaded sms popup, but still can't seem to get it to vibrate when in silent mode :(

**Ninja edit** ;)

Phone vibrate was unticked in sound & display. All working now cheers gurujock.

Why do stores try and give you shocking deals when you can get better deals online from them? And why is it so hard to walk into a store and ask for a phone, sign a piece of paper and walk away with a new phone?!? Grrrrr

Went into Phones4U and was offered, £30 a month 24 months, 400 mins, unlimited texts and internet but had to trade in my current phone and they would give me £50  or something.... or £35 a month, 18 months, 300 mins, unlimited text and internet.

I was like I'll be back to think about it and the manager was asking me what I had to think about and all this stuff, I never went back in, screw him.

I'll just buy it from them online when I get back home instead.

Shops are the inferior way to get phones these days which is why they're so understocked and bland when you walk in often relying on sales pitches such as "what is there to think about??! BUY!"

:p

Phones4U have a much better deal than that on their website for £30 pm

I would phone Vodafone and tell them you want the HTC Magic but only if the deal is good enough

check my post #797 you can get £95 cashback from dialaphone on a £30 a month 18 month contract. works out £24.70, so even better than phones4u infact the only person I have seen to get better was on this forum at £22.99 18 month contract after some haggling with vodafone, but if you dont was the agro use the deal I mentioned.

What is "You at work" exactly?

I'm using the Skype app at the moment and it keeps trying to dial a number when I try to do a Skype to Skype call, anybody know if this is correct, I thought Skype-Skype used the interent and was free

Hi,

Has anyone managed to get Hotmail on their Magic using pop3?

I have managed to setup my incoming Server, but no luck with the outgoing one I followed all the steps on the vodafone site and keep getting an unable to make a connection to server error.

Can anyone help?

Apparently the best thing to do is to forward your hotmail to gmail. that way you get push alerts etc. Unfortunately i have forgotten how to do this and i've lost the website that explained it (not got my magic yet). Can someone on here explain? cheers

A quick question for all you HTC magic owners, if you don't mind :)

If you have 2 contacts with the same number, what happens when they call?

For example if you had the landline number for two people living in the same house, the iPhone would display 'Paul or Jenny Calling' for example.

Well it happened, mine slipped out the pouch AGAIN today whilst exiting the car and this time got 3 little scrapes on the side of the back casing and edge of the side.

BAH.

Now will have to wait until OEM casings are available before putting on the invisible shield cover.

Luckily the colour and glossy finish means the scrapes are invisible unless you scour the surface up close so at least this is good.

Screen is untouched however and it's nice to know the phone doesn't fall to pieces if it falls on brick driveways!

Do we get another Oscar winning reconstruction of the harrowing event? :D

This time it needs the music from the BBC show 999 Lifesavers, presented by Michael Buerk.
