***HTC Magic Thread***

I'm on 4.2.15.1 and have never had a single problem since doing it.


I want something fresher though, might go straight to the 6.x RC1. Been backing up everything all day, so nothing to lose really.

i just installed 6x rc1 and its not bad so far, but after install i tried to use an apps and it said my phone wasnt rooted, even though it is.
i went back to 5.0.8 for now

Think I'll leave it for a bit and see how 6.x goes until it hits stable.
 
Uh oh. Think I've bricked this. I just "downgraded" to 4.2.15.1 but when the phone restarted it stopped at the Vodafone logo screen and hasn't moved. I think this is knackered. :(

Power button or power button and home button isn't doing anything. Next step that I can think of is to take the back cover off and remove the battery and replace it.

Anything else I can do before I do that? :p
 
Leave it as it is for a bit longer?


When I first did mine it took ~10 mins to load up... did you do a fresh install?
 
It's been as it is for at least 30 minutes now. I thought if it was stuck on the Android screen after flash then that's fine. But stuck on the Vodafone logo screen for this long? Eeeek!

I just used the Cyanogen update app to download 4.2.15.1 and flashed that. The fact that I can't even turn the phone off or restart it makes me think I'm going to be buying a Desire soonish. :D:o

I am now. :(:mad: In my previous post I meant that I was still stuck at the Vodafone logo screen which meant I could get a Desire. So quite why I decided to take the battery out and turn the phone on with the power AND Home button I don't know. :o It booted into recovery and I was able to wipe the phone and reflash the 5.0.8 mod.

Bah! :(

90% of the time when I go into the Market, if I search for an app or look at my downloads it'll load the expected screen, then bounce me back to the main market screen after about 1 sec, the same thing often happens when I try to download apps from there too.
 
Just updated from 4.x to 5.08, so far looks pretty good. Took the opportunity to update the radio and apply the mic quality fix and after a few test phone calls it seems to work pretty well.
 
Anyone had any issues with the other keyboard that Cyanogem comes with? Once I select it as preferred input method I get the 'stopped responding' error message.
 
The accelerometer on my magic has stopped working. I think it is hardware as I have dropped it twice recently on concrete and hadn't upgraded roms for a while (which can cause misinfo to be logged regarding accel).

Have tried a few different roms and some tricks through adb to remove files relating to accel info which have cured software problems for others.

When I use sensor debug app it shows absolutely no data (so doesn't seem to be calibration it just isn't working).

Does anyone have any experience of getting these fixed? I am not due an upgrade until late october so have to hang on to it for a while. I could live with it but would rather it was fully working.

I don't fancy trying to get voda to do it under warranty as it has modded rom and a couple of obvious marks from being dropped. So think they would rightfully not touch it.
