HTC Touch Diamond, New Flagship Model...

My O2 contract is up in October and they've told me that they will give me over £100 cash-back if I trade in my XDA Trion (HTC Hermes/Tytn) handset without getting another handset from them, this is ideal for me as I can drop my tariff to £20 and focus on investing in a handset that will last me a good few years.

Naturally, at this point in time, the HTC Touch Diamond is at the top of my list and that's why I am here. I've done a lot of homework in regards to this handset and am very familiar with the Windows Mobile OS, but I am wondering if anyone here feels that they know any honest reason that I should not consider the HTC Touch Diamond.

I am open to any alternative suggestions as long as it's Windows Mobile. Strictly no iPhone please.

What did you do exactly?

Followed the first 2 tweaks in this thread:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=398265

"1. Boost TFL3D Performance --> Using Advanced Config, change File system cache to 8mb and file system filter cache to 131072

2. Boost TFL3D Performance --> HKLM\System\Storagemanager\Fatfs and change key Cachesize from 16384 to 32768"

You need to download and install the advance config tool from XDA and then the tweaks themselves are a 1 min job

Works a treat haven't bothered with any of the others yet.

You've got more experience with HTC products than me having had the tytn, while i've only had this a few days but i can comment on the phone itself. it's a real pleasure to use, no complaints at all. If you're not in a rush you could wait for the version with the keyboard to come out as the screen is a little small on the diamond when you have one of the keyboards up for typing. the upside is as it doesn't have a qwerty keyoard it is a very neat little package. Tiny compared to my last few phones (e61i, 9300 communicator, blackberry).

Thanks for your input. :)

I have considered the Touch Pro but the thickness of my TyTN annoys me, having it in my pocket is a nightmare. I think the Touch Pro is about 3mm thinner than my TyTN but that's not going to help much. :(

I love my TYTN II, but it wont connect to 3G signals anymore and the screen has become very laggy, so its gone back to O2 to be fixed.
It finds a 3G signal, shows the signal strength and then immediately says there is no signal and thats that.

Got one :) Last one in the whole of the Carphone Warehouse in the North East on Dolphin 35!

Only problem im having is that somone used it before me and they have managed to turn off *** touchflo 3d, and i cannot for the life of me turn it back on. Im going start>settings>home and going to where it should be listed to be checked for enabling, and its just non existant, anyone got any ideas of how to get it back on again?

Cheers

I knew where it was, it just didnt exist to be enabled. DOne a full factory reset on *** phone and its fine now. Probably just the last person to have a play with it as it was the last one in store.

Hi guys, could do with a little bit of advice here

This afternoon my diamond has started to decide it will open the ActiveSync app whenever it feels like it, and its obliterating my battery life by the looks of things. I put the phone in my pocket with no wifi, data connections or any programs running, and 4 hours later I went to use it and I had used 70% of the battery, by doing nothing, then noticed activesync was running, so shut it down, and its started itself up again, and keeps loading itself in every 30 mins or so. Ive not even got it set up, or as far as I can see even have it set to do anything at all.

Anyone have any ideas how I can stop this program from starting itself all the time?

cheers

Stellios: I don't know about on the Touch Diamond but the Activesync app tends to run nearly permanently on my HTC TyTN (1), and my previous devices. I honestly don't think it drains the battery, could it be something else at all?
