HTC Vive

Where do you do this?

Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\config (Or where you have steam installed) then open the steamvr.vrsettings file in notepad.

Add this line of code under the "steamvr" : { section: "renderTargetMultiplier" : 1.4,

But depending on where you put it, in between other lines it will need a comma at the end, if it's the last line it can't have a comma.

You will need to restart SteamVR for this to take effect.

Depending on your system spec you may get performance issues if you put the SS too high. I found 1.4 works great for my spec, i7 4790k, 980Ti SC, 16 GB Ram.

It's honestly like night and day the difference it makes. I couldn't go back to not using SS now, no way.

Just received my VR Lenses

Will try them out later tonight, seem to fit OK but not sure yet how they affect FOV and whether the lenses need moving out a notch.

Did you get prescription ones I'm guessing? Thinking about getting none prescription ones just to protect the HMD lenses. Also did you go for the blue light filter option? Been thinking about that too. Not sure if it's needed, as surely it would be implemented already if people's eyes were going to be damaged without having the filter

Spare base station mounts.

I have my base stations set up in the living room, which gives a reasonable play area, but I also want to use the headset at my desk, in a much smaller room, mainly for FSX with flyinside.

These arrived today, I was going to mount them in my office and move the base stations as required. Once the brackets are up it should only take a few minutes to physically move the stations and re-calibrate the room.

Not sold by Overclockers so I hope this is ok...

Going to tackle it again later though I can still feel the strain behind my eye sockets this morning, maybe I need to turn the brightness down a bit. The thought of going back on isn't great after yesterdays sickness till bed.

Just doing small bits at a time will be ok too.

You just need to get your brain used to processing what you see in a different way to what its been doing.

Ok, so me and mum son had our demos at OCUK yesterday.
Wow! Both of us totally blown away. I nearly filled my shorts when the zombies got me from all angles
I totally want one, but I barely have enough space in my PC room. I literally do have 1.5m x 2m area, but that's with zero extra room at all.

So,
1. Who out there has the smallest room? And how do you manage?
2. Does anybody use the vive sitting down because they simply don't have the space? (Irrespective of the waste of potential I guess)
3. I've heard there will be a new version out late this year or early 2017. Anyone know about this and what consequences it may have on existing owners? Pretty sure no one will want to double-dip for an upgrade.
4. What are the practical applications for interior designers?

Thanks

Not seen any rumors about a new version of the vive, it's unlikely anytime soon as they have only just released this one plus one thing to bear in mind is that if a new a better resolution one came out then you would probably need a bigger and more powerful PC to run it.

The rumour is on reddit, it sounds more like a revision than a new version. Possible redesigned straps, perhaps slightly lighter design. But there wont be a full new version with better res or lenses until at least next year, possibly 2018

You would need a majorly powerful pc to run something with higher resolutions

Have to say, about the res.

Just enabled super samples to 1.5. Now running elite, text is as clear as crystal.

I swapped out the glaring orange to a sharp freespace esk green with the HUD tool, and it's an 100% improvement. Honestly, one step away from a monitor. Running at high, only drops a few frames in the station services.

What GPU are you using lokiss?

One step away from monitor? How did you get away from the marching lines where the aliasing should be? Or is that the one step lol??

I stand by it. All the monitors in the station are sharp. aliasing doesn't seem to be an issue with static displays.

Night and day from what it was before I enabled the sampler.

Prescription lenses and non-filtered.
