HTC Vive

I ordered this:
http://vrcover.com/product/htc-vive-pre-vr-cover/

I intend to let plenty of other people use it and I'm a little fussy with my tech getting sweaty... seems like it will do the trick!

They have been told the vive pre is the same as the release version. Here's hoping it's true.

I'd suggest buying soon if you want these around launch.

I ordered mine a few days ago and it said I was in a 14th March batch, so they must be selling out quick if it's moved to 4th April now.

Yup got mine in the same batch as yours :)

EDIT: Do we have any confirmation whether lighthouse mounts will be supplied?

Tempted to pick some up and fit them to be ready for when it arrives - want to get the drilling out the way.

Windlands was on my wishlist in prep but then I realised it plays 2D with game pad or keyboard/mouse. Rift + game pad (at launch) and Vive with the hand controllers so bought it this morning.

Should be a good comparison between the three scenarios with the fully open environment to test your nerve. First impression is I'm not very good with a game pad :) never have been.

Jacksepticeye does a good playthrough of this. Ive played the demo version and my nephews loved it. I thought it was ok :)

I wasn't sure what I would choose until I watched that video posted earlier.

Now I know that the Vive is the choice for me.

Awesome.

So apparently Valve just announced some sort of desktop theatre app where any (or maybe Steam-only?) game can be played in VR.

Can't find a link but assuming this is a type of large floating screen experience like VR cinema.

Great Tested.com video showing off some Vive demos, Budget Cuts around 30 minutes in looks really fun. Worth watching just that segment...

Designers just have to think of new games, rather than trying to make old design philosophies fit into VR. This is very exciting as we hopefully we finally get some true creativity and experimentation to gameplay, something that is lacking in many current games.

So add to my VR cost a new corner wall mounted computer desk. Top was a recycled work build desk and some 2x2 sawn wood plus crews etc. I didn't want any legs so it's fully floating.

Anyway that gained me another foot of space, now 7' x 9' :)
