HTC Vive

Well I've just realised I'll be in Munich till April 7th so I’m hoping if it does ship as early as the 5th it won’t turn up till the 8th!

I had a go on this at OCUK today and was really something, the space pirate game was great and so easy and natural to play.

What was your experience of resolution? The guy in the video review above says that the lens resolution is low and not the high quality he was expecting.

That's a question that interests me too. A video posted above says that initially you will be unimpressed with the resolution, but you will get used to it over time.

Went to PCWorld in reading to try the vive - all booked up. From what I had read it sounded like it was a turn up and queue for a 10 minute demo but they were taking bookings for set times in 30 minute slots.

Oh well, going to head back on monday as they reckon it'll be empty and should have no problem getting atleast half an hour on the vive. Shame OCUK aren't closer to me. It's an hours drive to reading as it is.

I live in the North East, so the closest place to me is Leeds

Yeah, I also read there's no booking in an article mentioning OCuK and others:

Each of the stores—which are spread across Leeds, Reading, London, Stoke-on-Trent, and Bolton will feature a full Vive demonstration station for individual sessions. Expect a line, though, as you won't be able to book a session in advance.

There's one in Tottenham Court Road and I might try and go along on Monday for a try. Forget it after Wednesday though, it's half term so will probably be pretty busy!

This room scale business, are there only games at the moment that have small walking areas? How does one walk across expanses of land if you're limited to your room size? If for instance Skyrim was VR, there's a lot of ground to walk.

This is my current system, how will the games on the Vive run? I want to wait to upgrade when the Pascal comes out, but I have the cash to upgrade to right now with this bundle. But I'd like to hold off until I have the cash to build a really special system.

Phenom II isn't gonna cut it, and if you're GPU is form the same generation that will need upgrading too. The bundle you posted looks solid, I have a very similar setup.

It seemed fine to me, I would say its low quality textures rather than screen resolution that is noticeable, but yeah when you're shooting stuff and and bobbing around who cares.

But this is from a person that plays mostly WoW Vanilla and CS:S so I wouldn't notice anyway :p

I've got a newer graphics card, a R290X.

The R290X should be OK start VR on - I've got a R290 and I'm intending to use that when I get the VR set and see what I need to upgrade to based on experience.

The i7 bundle you linked to looks good, but may be a bit of overkill? I'm hoping that my pretty basic i5 is more than good enough for VR. I'd get a cheaper bundle and then put the cash you've saved towards getting a better graphics card in a few months when the next gen cards have been released.

I don't upgrade too often, I'm the type that upgrades high when I get the chance. Besides, I've waited 28 years for VR since trying it in London when I was 19.
