HTC Vive

Anyone know how I can use a mic from my PC so the person using the headset and hear through headphones?

This should work...

Right click the speaker in the sys tray an chose 'Playback devices'.
Highlight the HTC Vive speakers and click 'set default'.
Click the recording tab.
'Set default' on your PC's mic.
Click 'Properties'.
Click the 'Listen' tab.
Tick the 'Listen to this device'.
Adjust levels etc on the other tabs and click 'OK'.

That should work but be aware that the mic will always be open, so if you are using SteamVR to mirror the audio back out to speakers you may get feed back. But you can keep that 'Listen' tab open and just tick/untick the box and hit apply each time if you want to turn it on and off.

Got mine set up after the faff with downloading software.

Only to find one of my Base Stations is Duff, it will not stabilize permanent Blue light and an odd clicking sound for 3 seconds then quite for 5 secs and repeat.
Tried different channels, different power supply, different location all same.

Tried one of my brothers base stations and it worked fine so at least got to test the HMD which works fine.

Will get in touch with OC tomorrow and have a look around Web for suggestions, likely RMA I imagine.

If everything else is OK...I really really would just send back the faulty base station

I had a few minor problems setting up:

- Had to try a couple of different USB ports.

- I have a big mirror in the living room which although didn't affect setup it caused glitching during VR.

- I thought my room was plenty big enough but I had to stretch the free floor space to get a good fit. It seems a shame that you can't have more manual input into the floor space / shape. I ended up with 3.3m x 1.5m. I also have a relatively low ceiling which can cause problems when reaching up for things.

So far though very pleased as too are the kids and Mrs. Tried lots of different demos on Steam and love that you can select different backgrounds, controllers and base stations.

Best for free so far:

1. Irrational Exuberance Prologue. Good for an immersive experience
2. The Brookhaven Experiment. I'm not scared of Zombies and stuff............ Well at least I didn't think so. Very good to see your mates scream like a girl.
3. The Lab. I'm sure everyone will download this but it's very good, lots of mini games and things to do.
4. Waltz of the Wizard. Good for a 45 minute play but thats about it.

I bought The Blu which is very good but pretty limited considering the price. It's the first thing I would demo to a mate but for £6.99 it's not that great value.

I had to cover up a mirror on my wardrobe door too as it was causing some issues with the controllers.

I looked at The Blu which looks good but not sure it's worth the price they are asking for it, may pick it up if it's on sale at some point. I have tried The Lab and love it, especially the archery one. I have downloaded Waltz of the Wizard and IEP but haven't gotten around to trying them yet so can't comment.

I've moved my whole setup downstairs, PC, 3 monitors, desk, and VR so that I can get some more space. It's awesome playing in a big space. I really like the archery game in the lab, Brookhaven is really good, and I quite enjoyed LightbladeVR. I'm going to see if poolnationVR is in the steam sale staring on 23rd of this month as it's a bit expensive at the moment.

Overall I'm really impressed and loving it, my wife loves it too but gets a bit of sickness, we'll see if this gets better the more she uses it. My mate came over last night and we played from 8pm until 1am pretty solidly and then the controller batteries were really low so called it quits. He is now going to be buying one lol.

doubt it since Pool Nation has launched with a discount of 15%, but you never know.

just watched E3 Bethesda conference and Fallout 4 VR HTC Vive version is coming next year . :)

its good to see an AAA game coming to the Vive.

I meant the loop, sorry. It looks identical to the ones that come with the Vive. I have them here and didn't even bother swapping them over.

Mmmm that's a bit odd. Mine turned up Friday and the direct comparison to the originals were very different. The loop (thin cord which attaches directly to the hand controllers) was approximately 2 to 3 times thicker i.e. feel much stronger.

Further update on my Vive return to OC.

Had emails to say received and replacement being sent out soon.

Latest email, new one is on its way, so should be here tomorrow.

Very prompt and efficient service from them.

Excellent service, good to know you won't be without it for long.

I'm really enjoying mine and showing friends, everyone loves it!

Quick question, my mate who lives in Sweden ordered a Vive from here, but got given UK plugs. Would buying an adapter for a Swedish/Denmark plug work OK?
