HTC Vive

back from hols and back to the Vive. I have missed it. Any good new games or demos for it?

Steam sale is in effect, if you were thinking of flinging a few quid on games, now is as good time.

Can't attest to what you have and haven't, but the cloudlands golf demo sold me on buying it.. 50% off currently.

Watching my mother play it is hilarious, a lot of swearing and missed shots.

Did a Random round of 9 holes, it picked hole 18 as the first (a long hole with everything thrown in) anyway after 9 holes she was 107 over par or thereabouts.

I still go to step over the walls etc even now, first time try was at OC demo, first shot I went to follow the ball down the slope.

My mother called round today and she was doing the portal Vr one and OMG lots of miss placed triggers on the floor, but she did get a grip of it in the end and managed to solve several on her own, bless her, she's 70 as well.

More than that mate.

Reading through the thread, noticed a few people in my boat. That time of life in the 40's, gaming gone a little stale ect ect..

The VR vive has totally brought the love back. Some of the stuff I've been playing has blown me away. Playing Luckys tale, I'm blown away with a fun factor long long lost playing games of the like on a screen, where I'm just on a chore to the end of the level.

VR Pool, again I'm thinking how can I play a pool game any other way again.

For everything else it can do, the Big picture stuff, fluid touch desktop... This is everything I ever dreamed VR would be when we were teased with it in the 90's.

Each to the their own, but for me this IS the best thing in tech/gaming I've ever had, purchased or seen in 35 year since I first stepped in an arcade.

A week on since I got one, I still think incredible, worth every penny.

I have just placed my Vive order with OcUK and it will be here on Tuesday. With the steam sales on at the moment, I was hoping to pick a few games up.
Can somebody recommend me some please? I would like some that are quite easy going so that I can get my mum on it. She is disabled so it would need to be a seated experience and something that's not too manic for her :) As for me, I'm up for anything, so feel free to make any suggestions.

Thanks :)

Much the same as me, if anyone had told me I could expect this sort of experience when I was worrying about color clash on my ZX 48K I would never have believed them. Well worth the cost.....

I was looking forward to this game so much and although it's amazing being in my flat and putting on the vive and being in a huge pool hall with people there, being disabled is a pain as the tables are way above my height. :(

I always think they should do more with settings options to accommodate all people of all sizes etc... I was quite pleased to see the options in job simulator to lower the height for kids and add a spectator mode for the second screen.
Anyway back on track, this might be your answer...

Enjoy my man!

PU leather? Yeah they're going to get hot right away.

My HTC Vive top 5 games list so far - 1st place is War Thunder, Subnautica, TheLab, TheBlu & House of the Dying Sun. I need SQUAD to be VR!

Here's a handy tip I came up with...I've added a pulley system to my HTC Vive, so when I'm done with it, the HMD floats to the ceiling. The cable is up out of the way whilst in use too. Basically have a counter weight that is just a little heavier than the HMD & cable ;)

I've been tempted to get TheBlu but once you've played about for a little is there anything that makes you want to go back into it?

Right chaps....

I've jumped in, after initially having a pre-order from day 1 on Oculus Rift (Then cancelling due to delays) i've decided to plumb for a HTC Vive. Purchased it with a MSI 1080 Gaming X to update my old 290x. They come both tomorrow. I think my 7 year old son is as excited as me.

I went for the Vive because most "vs" type reviews say the room scale and controllers really make it special, despite the Oculus being more comfortable and screen quality slightly better... Felt the room scale and controllers were more important. I really want to be blown away - as this will be the first time i've tried VR...

So far due to steam sale i've bought:

- Audioshield
- Elite Dangerous
- Project Cars
- Space Pirate Trainer

Plus i have bundled games and got Budget Cuts demo.

What else should i get while the sale is on?

P.S: Serious Sam looks amazing! Can't wait till that is out.

Universe Sandbox ² is good as well for showing what VR is great at, with immersion and is very relaxing

Holopoint and Holoball are good fun if they are on offer, not that they are particularly expensive anyhow
