Hungarian Grand Prix 2010, Hungaroring Circuit - Race 12/19

Have we even got an all-round brilliant driver at the moment.

I would say Hamilton.

However, I've said this before and I'll say it again - Alonso has a good chance of scoring more points in the 2nd half of the season, than any other driver. So far (after 2 races), this holds true.

I believe we are going to see why the majority of the current crop of F1 drivers believe that Alonso is the best driver in F1. His first half of the season has been poor by his own standards.

The only question has to be whether or not Alonso will be able to catch the WDC leader, who is currently 20 points ahead of him.

I know that Brits like to support the underdog, but I don't believe Webber will finish this year ahead of Vettel, unless Vettel has some serious problems.

Question: Has Webber had any DNFs this year?
Vettel has had 2, Hamilton 2, Button 1, what about Webber?

Vettel is too unpredictable. If RBR don't support Webber, it is their own fault when they lose the championship again.

Webber caused Hamilton's previous DNF didn't he? He used the cruise missile methodology of braking into a corner IIRC.

Looking forward to Spa-Francorchamps. Having repeatedly done laps on it in a Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 in NFS Shift recently in the ocuk pc games forum time trials competition :p, I understand just how difficult that track is, particularly Eau Rouge, which is notoriously hard to negotiate.

No tactical abilities. leaves all descions to the team.

Aside of the tactical side, Hamilton is the outstanding performer this year.

Yes, he leaves the tactical decisions to his team who are woeful in this area, but he has the speed to make up the deficit which his team usually leave him to make up.

Hamilton's competition:
Button - too slow, in comparison. Even after a DNF today, Button is still behind Hamilton by 10 pts.
Alonso - he has made a few errors this season, in particular allowing people to overtake him in the closing laps (MSc did it in Monaco and Kobayashi also did the same earlier this season). He also ruined his race weekend in Monaco, which he was dominating up until his crash in practise.

Put it this way - Hamilton is the least worst.

OK, but that DNF was his own fault.

Hamilton has had 2 DNFs which wasnt his fault.

Had Vettel not suffered car failure in the first 2 races of the season, he would've been ahead of Webber.

So far this year, I think Webber has been pretty lucky. Even Button has suffered a DNF this year, which wasnt his own fault.

Just because he is the best this season, doesn't make him a brilliant all round driver. Not being able to think tactically a massive disadvantage. It's the diffrence between several wdc and an all time great.

SPA is the best track on the F1 calender. Its fantastic for the drivers to drive on and it usually gives the audience a great racing spectacle.

Yep.

Bear in mind that he is improving. Year on year, Hamilton is upping his game. Since the Euro GPs this season, Hamilton has been driving very maturely and not trying to win the WDC in a single lap (which is what he used to try and do previously and led to mistakes).

Well that was a good race! Sorry for Lewis! a good race from button!

Shumy and Bara - Shumy should be shot he is still a pleb

F1fanatic tweeting why you shouldn't push drivers off the track.

Not sure if its a good example though since he's not alongside. But it is an example of what could result.
