Does appear to have been a little bit of overhype/hyperbole , the dramatic weather presenters showing cgi of them stood under 15" of water, the if you stay you WILL die, write your names with marker on your limbs etcMaybe the storm surge was around 5"...
Maybe? Seriously all that talk of up to 15" just didn't happen. I was watching all the live footage last night and even then it didn't look as bad as what was expected.

Seems most damage is wind and not flooding
30-40% of Florida state is without power, about 80% in Tampa, houses flattened and stadium roofs blown off
not a Exact science = HYPE TO THE MAX
Is it not better to report the worst that could happen in situations like this?
You can guarantee that if they didn't, and it was loads worse than predicted, the meteorologists would all be strung over the coals.
If the forecast is repeatedly over hyped, would this not cause a boy who cried wolf scenario when the big one hits?
Id rather be given their most accurate honest estimation, to enable me to make an; informed decision.
Talking of all of that, big shout out to that Max Velocity guy, never seen him before but watched hours of him last night and huge kudos to him for keeping levelheaded and grounded throughout, he stuck pretty much to the facts and realities of it, a lot of his predictions of when and wheres and to what degree, appeared to prove true as well. Certainly seems to know his stuff and doesnt get carried away.
