I cannot play games

Tried playing Counter Strike Source, didn't work, and does the same in Portal too.

It seems very slow, unresponsive and just not working.

Any idea what this could be?

I have tried reinstalling the game, and even Steam itself, and the same happens. I am unsure as to why this is.

i would try stock everything and maybe another hard drive hopefully you havent got a goosed component on your new build

I will try Minecraft to see if anything happens there. That is about the non-Steam game I have.

I presume this is a fresh install of windows you've got problems on? Do you get the same problem with other non-source engine games?

Also, have you tried verifying game caches? (Should be fine after reinstalling the game, but worth checking for the minute or so it takes).

Sure is, new system, I have tried verifying game caches and defragment game files. Did not work.

How about trying to varify game integrity of game cashe in steam to make sure it's not a borked install?
