James did why is the Printrbot in a wood box etc.

Ken

Printrbot released/sold a very limited amount of the printrbox for the first LC, although I missed on getting one from then they also released the laser cut files and I got one made. It doesn't really serve any purpose, might keep drafts down and the warmth in I guess.

Having a few issues with both printers today, the Metal Plus is having bed adhesion problems. (Ordered some rubbing alcohol) and the LC is having print wobble issues.

But i've ordered some more filament today for more prints to come :-).

Mine has just been delivered by FEDX. Will have to wait till my carer comes and unpacks it for me :)

I've got older software installed ready and won't update till I learn more.

edit=All unpacked. I'm just going to wait till the glass bed gets to room temp before printing.
My carer said "plenty of pictures on the net ect" :D

Edit 2= Just doing my first print and it will take 4 hours.

Need a bit of help.
I've got slight warping at one end of the print and I can't figure out how to stop it.I'm using ABS.

I've just sent for a XYZPRO so I can set the temps and reset the carts or use any filament.

EDIT= what make of filament are you guys using?

To reduce or even eliminate warping, firstly, Ill assume you're using a heated bed as that makes the biggest difference. I clean the bed with rubbing alcohol/acetone before large prints to ensure the first layer has a nice clean contact, I also make sure the Bed is calibrated level to within 0.05mm, finally I make sure the Z height is set so that the first layer almost smudges into the plate.

On my Up!Plus printer i use the perforated boards which can makes print removal quite difficult but which basically removes any fear of warping.

As for filament, I try and stick to Octave or PRNT3D filaments, I've had massive success with those.

Thank for the info. Yes I've got a heated glass bed and I do clean it before putting on UHU stick glue.

I will try cleaning with rubbing alcohol before the glue. I can't changed any settings with this printer(xyz duo 2.0a)
I have got a XYZPRO which can change the extruder\bed temps and resets the carts, but that won't be here for weeks.

I'm having fun though :)

Got some Isopropyl Alcohol 99.9% coming :)

Anyone used the flexi filament? got any tips as I'm going to try some.
I've found my next printer http://zmorph3d.com/produkt/dual-head-printing-set/

Not used it myself, but I will add it to my list of things to review on my Youtube channel I'm working on :-).

As for tips, I read the slow speed, no retraction are key and using direct drive extruding is important, as the flexible filament doesn't work well with bowden set-ups, you might even need a guide on a direct drive set-up.

Also printed my first ABS print today, the 3D Benchy.

Whats the most useful item vs retail cost that can be made ? Like Im imagining a belt pulley off a Ferrari, costs a couple hundred as they dont make them anymore but the printer does it for a fiver

I've printed out parts for my dyson vacuum and parts for the printer it's self :)

Would you really want a 3D printed belt pulley in your Ferrari? Yes if you could find a 3D model of one you could print it but if it broke what else would in take with it.

OK so the YouTube channel thing didn't go to plan, but I made a blogger instead. Check out my first filament review, any and all feedback welcome. See it here Blogger

Nice one dude. I've bookmarked it.

I'm printing Batman's Tumbler at the moment. 6 hours and still going :(

Well that was a waste of time and filament. The slicer got it wrong and it was just a mess...grrrrr
