I got me 3D printer, awesome!

Loads of good stuff on there. Decent find. :)

I've had a reply back from 3DPrinterStore, looks like they're adding the auto-level option to my order. Even if they don't, adding an inductive probe doesn't look like too much of a challenge on the supplied controller board.

That will help a lot when printing. I wanted to add one to my printer, but it's a glass bed so I can't :(

Just had a drive-by Google and there's plenty of folk discussing cap sensors with Repetier, and for sub £5 it's gotta be worth a gamble. :)

Very true. I will search and find out how it's connected to my motherboard.

Edit - 3 wire job it seems. Presumably 12v input, then a trigger wire?

Slimbot test print results for a calibration cube using OOTB settings: http://imgur.com/a/0y1MT

Bodes well.

Thanks again.

Found out my motherboard won't do 4 samples of the bed only 3 :(

It looks like going Ramps if I can find a good how to. Wish I got one like yours now!

Would you be able to retro fit the MKS Base v1.2 or v1.3 board into your setup?

Just seen the v1.4 is on our favourite Chinese import site for about $35 too.

Thanks I will have to look in to that. Most do a Ramps 1.4 with an Arduino under it.

I don't think I have the skills to work out what plug goes where and the right amps ect.

EDIT A MKS SBASE V1.2 Smoothieboard clone may be of use
And all the help I need is here http://smoothieware.org/

I have received the shipping notice from DHL, and current it's <checks the site> in "transit" somewhere between Hong Kong and here.

Those Smoothieboards look great and really well documented, plus being able to repurpose for CNC laser or drill is pretty handy too.

I have just ordered a 3D kit, same as yours Randal as it turns out! Will be good to see how your build goes, Ed Farius's videos on how to build are pretty good, and the Facebook group is pretty good as well.

Well I just took the plunge, bit of a punt but at £170 delivered I thought it was a fairly good risk to take. :)

Reviews are favourable, and whilst it doesn't look like a genuine E3D head it shouldn't be too difficult to mod/retrofit one if needed.

Ah that's his name, ArcadEd yeah? His vids were meticulous! In fact they probably helped me make the decision after hearing that the supplied documentation was pretty poor.

Some good caveats in there as well that aren't otherwise mentioned from what I can see, things like not putting the bed on until you've got the stops in place etc. Not show stoppers, but some nice time savers.

I can see myself getting some longer ribbon cables and mounting the control unit out of the way, or making some kind of enclosure for the whole affair. I quite like the look of the Ikea cabinet mod: https://www.instagram.com/p/BCgHbIwqPMy/

If you haven't already .. Have a look at this Facebook group ..

TEVO Tarantula Prusa i3 Owners ... The developers are active daily there.

That IKEA cabinet look very good indeed, might have to do something similar.

I signed up just for access to the group, the custom firmware and models etc are there, as well as direct support from the bloke who made the videos etc to help with installation :)

Great boards but cost a fair bit. I should have the rest of my parts for rebuilding my printer this week.

They are expensive when held up against the AliExpress options, but you're getting the support and community with the Smoothie I guess.

What new parts have you gone for?

Well I want to print flexi filament with out any problems.

So I've got a new carriage for my XYZ du 2.0A. I've got coming

4x V6 clones\J Heads as I've got to drill holes in them for bed levelling. One may survive :)
2 kinds of extruders which I hope will cope with flexi
3 different Nema 17 stepping motors
6ft of 1.75 teflon tube
plus different nozzles to try and nuts\bolts\washers.
New version of throat(the one I told you about) and other stuff.
Then if it all goes together. I need to flash Repetier and do new settings for simplify3d.

I will post pics before and after.
