sorry havent read all the thread.

but i would rather take a 2/3K cut than to be stressed all the time because of the job, what is this place? (sarcasm) you CANT be sick for more than 4 days in 6/7 months (someone please explain this  ) and now you cant HELP customer if ** time limit goes OVER 10:44 mins. whatever next, you cant go to the toilet more than once per your shift? or cant drink tea/coffee?

what i would do or atleast think of is this:
get EVERYONE who uses NTL support thing to ring the management and say they are being cut off at around 11 minutes and their problem is still not solved and that they know the reason.

contact CAB?

I can't use the loo for more than 10 mins a day :p

Haly , I'm not sure if it's gas or leccy but I don't care :D

Do all callcentres add time limits for staff per person? Ive noticed when ive been calling techical supposrt for my ISP that they start out useful and then just try to get rid of you after a while.

Pretty much yeah.

It's so they can answer as many calls as possible - making the management happy that they are helping as many users as possible. *bovine manure*

In reality - you're just trying to get rid of them as quickly as possible and helping them as little as possible to get rid of them.

All the phone monkeys know they can help a lot more and would if they could. But they can't.. :(

Well they loved their jobs when they did it years ago so it's got to be better than NTL considering everything is :D

Good luck with it and let me know how it goes :)

remind me NEVER to work in NTHELL which reminds me there is a reason they call it NTHELL!

and why dont u speak to other staff who are in your situation and havent your company got a grievence procedure or where you can "challenge" a warning? by going higher or something

thats what happens when you dont have a union at your work , you get shafted

I beg to differ, our call centre is not unionised and doesn't suffer any of these problems. We have targets and stats but they are generally easily obtainable and allow you to spend time with the customer to get the job done.

The real issue is outsourcing and poor management. outsourcing means the company is billed for time spent, therefore they want as little time spent on each customer as possible.

The problem is when a company becomes stats obsessive. Stats monitoring is important to ensure that staff are working and not wasting time (when combined with quality monitoring), but when you start cutting the stats back and back, it's going to affect what you can do.

Commute to cheltenham piggy ;) Sure I can get you into a 2nd line role here for around 16k. No max call times (spent hours on a calls before) & nice & relaxed.

I aint read any of this thread, but I know you've worked there a long time and you hate it so... why don't you just get a new job? You've almost 4 years commercial IT support experience, get out there and look girl, I've been offered 2 jobs in the last month on ~20k and I've only just got a years experience.

Havent read through all 6 pages, so i`m not sure if it has been mentioned.

BUT maybe your performance problems could come from the fact you post on these forums every 5/10 minutes? :D

Were you at work when you started this thread?

Trust me mate , I would do ANYTHING to get out of this hell hole ... it's not easy finding a Job in Swansea :/

I'm that desperate I'm looking at taking a £3K paycut which would drop me down to £11.5K just to get out of here :(

I'm gobsmacked by both Piggy and Lopez's tales - your jobs sound utterly awful. It's made me realise how lucky I've been. Hope you both get the opportunity to tell your managers where to stick their poxy jobs.

If you'd read the thread you'd see it's because she spends too long helping customers when NTL just want her to get rid of people fast regardless of whether the problem is solved or not ;)

Edit - Suppose I should say IBM/Manpower these days :o
