"I hate smokers" thread

Hi my name's Steve and I used to be a smoker.

I get annoyed with the attempts at smokers justifying their habit with idiotic arguments like 'but we're paying stack in taxes' and 'we're funding cancer research' or 'it's my choice and I'm not hurting anyone else' or 'what about the fatties or the cars or alcoholics and drug addicts'. It doesn't diminish your idiocy and it doesn't make the harm you're causing others and yourselves by highlighting other stupid and harmful things.

The thing is that it's one of the few things in life that you have real control over. Stopping doing it has real and instantaneous effects such as you don't stink nor will your breath, you'll stop wasting your works time, you'll save money and your health will take a boost. Long term you'll stop staining your teeth yellow. Your home, your clothes and your car will stop smelling like an old pub that hasn't been scrubbed in it's life. You'll get fewer colds and be overall healthier as will your family and friends because they aren't breathing in your carcinogens that you so considerately exhale all over them when outside. You won't stink out 20-30 metres of the street behind you as you walk to and from work and you won't be out of breath doing it.

It's so simple, so obvious and yet such a huge number of people remain adamant that it's their right to do it. It's simple though isn't it - you're addicts that are too weak in will and mind to make the simple change so you make stupid and selfish excuses.

...and you sir are a ******* fascist. You can't go around imposing your will on everyone, telling them what to do with their own bodies. Despite the health implications, there's nothing harmful about smoking at all. If someone who works 12 hour shifts wants to unwind and have a cigarette, then why stop them? Are you gonna be that guy? Are you gonna be an absolute ****? It's not hurting you at all. You can't complain about passive smoking because people are made to smoke outside. Plus, you'd have to spend your life following smokers about to die from passive smoking, there's not much proof that it actually harms people to be honest.

Not everyone is so mindless and besides it is an irrelevant argument. You can't justify your own actions by the negative actions of others. Or do you think a murderer/rapist/pedophile can be acquitted if he claims that he Judge and Jury drive cars and wear primark clothing?

Not really the same point is it; when rapist hurt other people, murders hurt other people etc. Smoking hurts the individual themselves. Completely, unfair argument to use.

Smoking also affects other people, hence why the partial ban has been enforced.

LOL are you serious? I'm not telling you to do anything! I'm merely pointing out the idiocy of the act and the subsequent reasoning of smokers. 12 hour shifts... because everyone does that don't they. And do you honestly believe that there is nothing harmful about smoking? You, sir, are a fool and thank you for so very succinctly proving my point.

Wow... its widely known that smoking relieves stress and makes people calm... I dont know the science behind it but comparing it to someone on smack is a little extreme.

When you ingest nicotine you satisfy the neurological addiction and in those moments you feel just the same as a normal person who doesn't smoke, all the while abusing your body. One can get the same effects by simply not smoking at all and never having the down time.

The brains of a typical smoker.

My Grandfather died from Emphysema, it's got be one of worsts way to die.

I also dislike the complete disregard that smokers have for their "litter", you see "fag butts" flying out of cars and the doorways to building are always covered in them. Most smokers "protest" their innocence, a common one in our building is that "the bin was full", even when the bin is empty the are always loads of fresh fag butts.

HEADRAT

I do quite enjoy seeing them standing outside in the freezing cold during the winter months :D ...It's a dirty habit, but you can't tell a smoker not to smoke... as with anything - they have to want to quit it... as long as it's not affecting anyone else, i couldn't care less what they do really...

I don't hate smokers but do hate smoking.
I don't care about the smell, the cost or the addiction.

I hate what it does to peoples lives.

I watched 2 of the most kind hearted, genuine and lovely people I've ever known whither into nothing and die a horrible and painful death because of ******* smoking.

Yes they chose to smoke so only had themselves to blame but have any of you that are trying to defend the act of smoking actually seen how someone dying of lung cancer suffers prior to passing?

I helped care for both of my grandparents in the months leading up to their deaths. Its a horrible thing to see someone so dear to you suffer so much from something so totally and easily avoidable.

I see so many smokers littering as well, it's as if they don't really give a **** about anyone or anything else. I was sat next to a guy on a training week and it was just vile, every time he coughed there was a terrible smell of ash trays. The cough was horrible to listen to and every break we had he was the first out of the door with his coat on. So glad I don't smoke.

The smoking ban in pubs/clubs was long overdue and i'm glad it seems to have been accepted.

Haven't read the whole thread but I find smoking absolutely vile. Smokers absolutely stink and my pet hate is being stuck behind a smoker walking along the pavement. I have to overtake them quicksmart in order not to breathe in their fumes and stench; it really is foul. And the litter is disgusting too.

It's horrible being sat at ones desk when someone who smokes passes, or even worse comes to talk to you. I'm not even sure I can hide the disgust but they still do it. Think theres 3 people in this office that smoke, and you can smell them coming. I guess they don't give a **** about other people, or how they're perceived though.
