"I hate smokers" thread

For the win to the point you die of something nasty that is ;)

All gotta die of something.

And its all very well having a moan, but to anyone thats moaning and is fat or unhealthy in other ways (I mean like morbidly obese fat).

Lets see how you like it when your told you need to run 3 miles after that Big Mac...It won't be too long.

Live and let live, or die in my case! ;)

Yeah as stated my Grandad died of Emphysema, you can die of that if you like, I'd rather pass away quietly in my sleep.

I run about 5K every Monday/Thursday/Saturday, bring on the food, nom nom nom!

You do know perfectly healthy people can still contract very bad illnesses through no fault of their own?, heart disease, diabetes ( get all that noming wrong), cancer, its not an exclusive smokers club you know.

Did you know their are several studies that show, with the amount of runners/ fitness people the accumulated amount of damage done to their knees and ankles and hips could exceed the cost to the NHS over smokers now?

That more non smokers suffer heart attacks/strokes associated with casual drinks having to much?

I used to smoke. Haven't touched a fag in over a year now since I switched to vaping, and never will again. The taste of them is foul, the smell of them is foul, the eye-stinging smoke is horrific etc. etc.

I never realised, as a smoker, just how much I did reek. Now when a smoker gets on the bus I can smell them coming from the entire length of the aisle and just feel thankful that that isn't me anymore.

Thing is, I still don't mind. It's their choice, and they're free to make it. If someone smokes nearby and I don't want to breathe it, I can walk the other way. I might have realised how disgusting a habit it is and just how stinky it makes EVERYTHING - your house, your hair, your clothes, your partner -- EVERYTHING -- but I'm not going to judge and stand around preaching and belittling people because a politically-lead tour-de-force of now socially acceptable public humiliation says I can. I'm not a bully, and nobody needs to defend their own life choices to me.

A little humility is a virtue and, really, as others have said -- if other people being smelly, fat, ginger or whatever really gets your goat that much then you should be thankful that you really don't have that much in your life to worry about, do you?

oh please,i hate getting into lifts with a non smoker who stinks of sweat.

Sweat doesn't smell - bad hygiene does... doesn't diminish the fact that smokers stink... I'm not entirely sure what your point is...

yes so what if we smell of smoke,i dont have a problem with it and neither should you..

Genius...

OP lets just say while it may be a strong smell it beats the smell of clubs nowadays I remember goin out and clubbin when smoking inside was leagal and being able to smell nothing but smoke now I go into a club and throw up at the smell of stale alcopops and sweat which stays with you even after you've left.

Don't go to clubs then... simples.

Gotta die of something - may as well make it something painful and horrid that also effects everyone else around you.

I'm an ex-smoker, but I'd gladly take the habit up again and exhale in the op's whiny face.

Nice...

You know you lot put Mensa to shame...

I'd agree if I didn't have to have it in my face constantly - their choice is effecting me therefore I have the right to voice my opinion and dislike of it. If it were a case of them not ever effecting anyone else through their decision i.e. through hurting their friends and families and putting them through emotional distress watching them die painfully then I'd say go to town, but that isn't the way it is. It's a selfish filthy habit end of story.

Sigh, I'm sure but on balance I'm sure the benefit to my health outweighs those factors. The overwhelming evidence is that smoking is very bad for you, it increases you chances of getting horrible diseases. Can non smokers also get those diseases, of course they can but it's much less likely.

Smokers can always pull a person that "smoked 100 a day" and lives to 101, unfortunately for me my personal experience just doesn't match that Smokers nirvana

Thats what strikes me about your argument... you're completely sure you wont be struck or diagnosed with any such disease in your life..personally that kinda talk always has a temping fate sound to it.....fact is..in the next 10 years you could be diagnosed with any cancer a smoker could get and never have smoked a cig in your life. and many 10,000s of people per year have just that happen to them.

Nope I'm saying its' a numbers game and I want to stack them in my favour, I could just eat burgers all day and be 30 stone but I know it's bad for me (just like smoking) so I don't do it.

Smokers on the other hand do something they know is bad for them and are absolutely **** sure that they won't get struck down, it's an addiction just like over eating.

On balance though he won't have been increasing that risk by doing things that are likely to increase the risk of cancer or other such illnesses. Talking about it neither increases nor decreases the chances, the only people tempting fate here are those puffing away on carcinogenic cigarettes.

How do you know that?...you know theirs studios about the adverse affect on Air Con in cars about what damage trapping fumes and pumping them back in can cause to the lungs? Certain foods/ drinks?..hod do I know others diet doesnt take all these concerns into consideration?

Im not saying you change the risk % of course its obvious the associated risks in smoking and developing illnesses from that..even general poor health and catching colds and flus increase.

Its people preaching about their own health that gets my back up...you haven't lived your life yet, you have no clue how things are going to turn out, so stop preaching to others on a health issue.

By all means..moan likes girls about a smell or something, but not on the health stuff.

OK so just to see if I am getting this right? By talking about cancer I am increasing the chance of getting it? Maybe if I talk about being rich it will increase my chances of getting rich... wow you might be onto something here... or not.

The truth is not altered by the medium of delivery.

I'm sure there are plenty of "passive" factors that could have a detrimental effect on your health, do you not feel that you are "actively" adding to these detrimental effects by smoking?
