"I hate smokers" thread

I'm sure there are plenty of "passive" factors that could have a detrimental effect on your health, do you not feel that you are "actively" adding to these detrimental effects by smoking?

It's just in the same bent as pointing out lots of other bad elements of life and living with the misguided idea that it will somehow diminish the impact of another...

Do you drive a car?....you are passively helping to pollute the air which contributes the the problems of asthma suffers everywhere.

Im not sure the detrimental affect of SMELLING smoke from someone cloths breath, is the same, passive smoking you have to sit in a contained area where you have no choice..we don't have that any more with it being made law.

OK so just to see if I am getting this right? By talking about cancer I am increasing the chance of getting it? Maybe if I talk about being rich it will increase my chances of getting rich... wow you might be onto something here... or not.

The truth is not altered by the medium of delivery.

Try and read what I have written, I said about people using it as a means to preach to others, not by saying it im makes it "facto".

He asked if by smoking you were making it worse on yourself...

How do you know that?...you know theirs studios about the adverse affect on Air Con in cars about what damage trapping fumes and pumping them back in can cause to the lungs? Certain foods/ drinks?..hod do I know others diet doesnt take all these concerns into consideration?

Im not saying you change the risk % of course its obvious the associated risks in smoking and developing illnesses from that..even general poor health and catching colds and flus increase.

Its people preaching about their own health that gets my back up...you haven't lived your life yet, you have no clue how things are going to turn out, so stop preaching to others on a health issue.

By all means..moan likes girls about a smell or something, but not on the health stuff.

Again..ill ask you both to actually read what I have written.

I hate people that only make "I hate......." threads.

So for this exercise, I hate you Nate, you need to get out more.

Meh... it's passed some time - I've had the opportunity to whinge about a major pet hate - personally I'm all for this particular thread.

I smoke, but I hate fat people that complain about smoking! I'll stop smoking when you stop eating YOU FAT MOTHER ******!!

Not aimed at any one, but they mention it in that documentary Super Size Me and the dude has a point!

My girlfriend smokes. I hate the smell, the waste of money, and the self-justification excuses like "oh I need my little luxuries" or "I'm in a bad mood. If I deprive myself of something I want when I'm in a bad mood, I feel even worse".

Worse still is the fact that she says she wants to give up because it's bad for her skin, her health and her wallet, but she still does it.

Rage......... grrrrrrrrr

I'm sorry, I forgot that overweight people release toxic gases/fumes that over time can cause serious problems to other peoples health, even though they aren't fat .

Everyone has done the "what happens to a lung after one cigerette" test at School. If that isn't enough to put people off, nothing will

Where i work the smokers are allowed outside for at least 5 minutes an hour for a cigarette. I don't smoke.

So on this basis 5 minutes in an 8 hour shift = 40 minutes a day. Which is 200 minutes a week. Which is 800 minutes a month. On this basis as a non smoker i have to work 13 hours a month MORE than a smoker. 140ish hours a year MORE than a smoker.

I've been with the company since 1998 which means in, say 13 years , i worked more than 1800 hours more than a smoker. 230ish days.

I've got human rights and I'm sure with the right lawyer i could claim and win 8 months off ,fully paid. Right where's my phone ..... :D
