As a dude without a right hand and a dude that likes to game - I am totally on board with this. I've purchased games and been so frustrated when custom button mappings are not standard on all games. I've written gaming companies with my concerns and have either been heard and responded to (Bethesda) or completely ignored (all the rest). That being said - Bethesda was nice about it - but ultimately the message was 'unlikely this will happen'
On top of that, there is only 1 (!!!!) controller for the PS3 that features custom button mappings on the unit - and it is an uncomfortable piece of hardware to hold.

the problem with consoles is they are not has customizable has pc's are in the controller hardware side of it. but the software side is. theres no reason why they shouldn't have full custom control settings.
maybe other companys need to make different controllers for consoles, such as joysticks ect
