i just got dead space 2 but i'm so disappointed

Hi guys,

after finishing my little german press roundup (see my earlier post), I noticed that two of the publishing heavyweights in the subject areas IT and computergames (www.heise.de and www.computerbase.de) must somehow have missed the story. Therefore, in order to stir the beast, I grew exceedingly brave and dropped them a line in hope to further the good cause and to give Chucks Petition some serious german extra-drive :).

On that note, I just wanted to say how happy I am about the kind of commitment and compassion the gaming-community shows when fellow gamers are in need of help. This is of course about trying to fix an annoying and long-standing technical problem. But there is a second angle to the story. We gamers as a sub-cultural group, which is often maligned and politically harassed, offer here and now impressive counter evidence to the threadbare stereotypes and hypocritical renderings of us as self-absorbed escapists or even blood-thirsty sociopaths. The posters here at overclockers.uk and many others all around the world gave ample proof of their empathy for and consideration towards the needs and problems of their fellow men. This unity in fighting for a good cause is, as a by-product, the best way to make an end to all these cheap attempts of disparaging us morally because of our shared hobby, a hobby which we should be able to enjoy freely and not to have feel guilty about whatsoever.

Hope I didn't ramble to much! My morning-coffee was probably a bit too strong today. :p

Cheers!

Well said!

Just an update on the mouse, for Gareth. I've got it in bits on my desk at home but it wasn't what I was expecting. Looks like it might be beyond my electronics knowledge to modify, but I'm going to get a friend round to see if between us we can make the mod and get it working. Will let you know in a few days whether or not we managed it. :)

That's quite awesome. Good on you, boy!

this thread is truly an inspiration.
if gareth doesn't mind (its too late now) i posted his plight on another forum.
http://www.overclock.net/pc-games/935215-help-fellow-gamer.html
its only 5 pages with a lot of posts by me ;)
but it has had over 850 views, so hopefully some of them would have signed the petition without posting in the thread.

NICE THANKS FOR SHARING IT!

In case any1 missed my thank you video. over 36k it is so great to see.

I am a total liar.

When I said I was impressed before... I didn't think I could get anymore impressed.

However, this has all blown me away, I am so please with how amazing and how it has all blown up into a large scale. I am impressed by it all. Happy for Capper and Gareth, and everyone else who benefits from it all. So worth it. It shows me the community at Overclockers UK, not only that, the whole gaming community in fact, is something I am proud to be a part of.
