It doesn't need spelling out for you does it? What does the Purple shirt brigade focus on? :p
As I see the rules, they're a direct competitor and a no-no.

well our local store stocks more home entertainment equiptment than pc hardware. but i see your point, i just dont know how mentioning their name in a section not related to hardware, ie the games one, is any different to mentioning amazon or play, as if you go to their site to look at said game, you will no doubt spot they sell hardware (if you didnt already know).

i get the no linking, and no mentioning rival products, but if games are not a rival product (or tv/dvd players) then how is not mentioning them by name in those sections going to magically stop people thinking these companies exist?

Amazon and Play don't focus on hardware, that's the difference. They're not direct competition in that sense.

ok, i will drop it. but i still dont 100% understand it.

the thing that concerns me most about said companys name being blocked due to this rule, is that ocuk actually consider them as competition :o i mean, would anyone from here chose to shop there over ocuk?

Well I think you've got a point there since it's now actually "Currys PC World", well at least the local one I've seen and a few others, so what is it considered as? Currys or PC world? Like anyone buys hardware from there anyway, it's no wonder they merged the stores.

It seems you're trying to pick holes.

I'd guess we can say "Buy cooker at Curry's", but can't say "Buy laptop at PC World", which is fair, and makes sense.

They are a big no, seriously, use common sense!

this is now a black area is it not? we can use their name but not mention their pc related products, apart from games?

No you can't, such places focus on selling computer hardware, parts etc. they are not to be mentioned.

So just to clarify, PC World or any store under the DSGI group are BANNED, not up for discussion, again use your common sense.

im sorry if it comes across that way. but this is what my point was trying to say, and what has confused me about this whole situation. OCUK do not seem to consider games as a major part of their company, so mentioning certain names relating to games is ok, but others is not.
surely if you use their name in the pc games section, relating to a game and not gaming hardware is ok, but mentioning hardware related items, then stick to not using a direct name or link.

No, because they *focus* on PC hardware, while they may not be good at it, it's irrelevant.

Let me clarify, DSGI group, which is the purple place and other stores such as Curry's are a no no.

If you feel you all need to discuss this in detail then please do, I've not used my mod powers for a long time, I am a bit rusty but I do know where the bann buttons are. Basically stop trying to pick holes and use your common sense.

again, im sorry if it came accross as i was trying to pick holes, i was just asking a point, and in no way do i want to cause trouble, i love ocuk and will always shop with them whenever i can.
