Oh yeah, we went from no competitors to everyone is.
Wording fail :p

i feel for them i really do. everything is open to interpritation, im being picky, obviously, but if its easy to pick at it, then they cant enforce it. i dont think a 10 minute sit down is enough. it will need a well thoughtout discussion to get it right, but i think now most people understand what they mean, its just as it stands, people can argue their case when 'breaking' the rule as its soooo open to interpritation.

The rule is clear, the wording is ambiguous however.

"Please refrain from discussing or linking products sold by competing companies that OcUK also sells."

"To further clarify, prohibited deals are those that offer products that exactly match the ones sold by OcUK. So, discussing deals for digitally downloaded software is fine as OcUK does not currently offer this type of service; whereas discussing deals for hardcopies that are also sold by OcUK is not allowed."

I think it's time we used some common sense here.

Amazon sells everything. Therefore Amazon talk should be allowed providing it does not relate to or even hint at buying products OcUK sells.

So buy a CD from Amazon = allowed.
Check out the price of Graphics Cards son Amazon = not allowed.

Hurrah! Common sense has prevailed at last! If only certain mods had used common sense and talked to each other in the first place all this could have been avoided!

no one knows what goes on behind the scenes, maybe there was talk of a ban on mentioning amazon, but then a rethink on the situation was had, but not in time to save this.
overall, no real harm has been done, and no one can/should be held solely responsible.

Just to finally clarify the rules.

  • 1. No competitor talk!

  • 2. A competitor is defined as a company who sells similar hardware/periphal products to OcUK, which Amazon do and as such Amazon are *NOT* allowed, but a site such a Steam is fine as selling games is not our business.

Simples. :)

***Rules regarding competitors Please read!***25/07/2011

1. Amazon and places like these etailers/retailers are fine to talk about but please do *NOT* discuss our core business products or link to them such as motherboards, cpus, mice etc.

:mad::rolleyes::rolleyes:
