****I lied these aren't the rules we're lookin for****

Everyone here knows what rules OcUK are trying to achieve with these forum rules (to protect their business) - why not suggest some instead of just picking apart any that are put in place. Might be useful. Someone where might be able to come up with something that solves this ongoing problem.

They have been suggested, in all the other threads. The current rule doesn't work and doesn't make sense.

One minute we were told to apply logic, the next we're told its banned completely?

Well I understand this response, when it was made a bit more vague there was hundreds of "What about...?" questions so they had to set a very understandable rule as people didn't seem to be applying common sense.

Doesn't mean I agree with the rule though.

This is getting tedious now. Why doesn't the darn sticky just say: "Please refrain from discussing or linking products sold by competing companies that OcUK also sells."?

So it's the same as before just with Amazon added to the banned list, wooh!

Don't know if Play are allowed though, they do sell a few odd peripherals I think.

They sell a lot more than that. They're competitors based exactly on what Thundycat said in the original post. They "tick the same boxes" as Amazon, so do Asda, Tesco, Apple and Dell.

is this the sticky that was alluded to in the other thread?

Going to tesco to buy some baked beans... cause thundycat said i can :D i think it was him lol :P

How about don't talk about where you can find Hardware elsewhere?

Talk of other non related items (Games, DVDs, Books, Frying Pans, Clothes) are fine and their respective retailers are fine?

So this is the "annoucement"?

I really hope not.

You'd expect that wouldn't you? I'd been under the impression that this was the general rule until the kick off over the weekend. It makes far more sense than to arbitrarily ban the mentioning of only certain stores.

That was as it should be, and as I'm sure TC said the other day, now it's clear cut "No linking to companies which sell the same products" etc.

How about you stop treating us like thick ignorant cattle and just ban the linking to competitors and the posting of details on any deals they may be doing

To start denying that other places exist and ban naming them is just stupid

Also is this the announcement Naith referred to?

I really have gotten the impression that OcUK aren't too bothered about annoying us and our importance to them is minimal, given there has been no word about the Don's.

Find it funny how 5UB was asking for our help in promoting OcUK on Steam, while other Don's have happily abused their power and conducted themselves in a shocking manor.

The one rule to rule them all.

"Discuss anything just don't link/talk about of any hardware items be that sales or normal prices."

As linking to deals of pc hardware is the only thing i can think of as promoting but talking about anything else and yes that means any other pc hardware or other store just dont talk about their products or list prices for things.

That would be the best rule imo. Clear cut and stops promotion of items on competing sites.

It must be hard to amass 10k people of the "Less than 10% group"

How did you arrive at that conclusion? OcUK don't sell Kindles at the moment.

Sorry, I misread your post, but the rule as stands, would make the kindle link "Against the rules".

Because most places sell both nowadays?
Well realistically, the whole competitor rule is ridiculous and petty anyway, it does very little to stop people discussing the fact that they exist (the trust messaging system?) and people are gonna go elsewhere regardless if they have a reason to.

I get the aspect of not promoting other retailers, that's fair enough, but I wouldn't say the competitor rule is necessarily part of that.
