****I lied these aren't the rules we're lookin for****

OCUK don't sell many games.
End result is the same!
This "rule" says Amazon is banned, that's clear cut, YET THERE'S A LINK TO AMAZON... How are you not grasping this?

I already edited my post - I thought you were talking about my rule suggestion again, not the OP's.

Clarification is needed on if people are still allowed to say competitor names under a guise, aka;

"Rainforest" or "the shop where I live".

Well according to Thundy's post, both shouldn't be allowed. I really can't understand what they must be talking about amongst themselves, seriously, whose "bright" idea was it to say Amazon's banned, but ignore Asda, Tesco, Play, Game and even eBay?

The one rule to rule them all.

"Discuss anything just don't link/talk about of any hardware items be that sales or normal prices."

As linking to deals of pc hardware is the only thing i can think of as promoting but talking about anything else and yes that means any other pc hardware or other store just dont talk about their products or list prices for things.

That would be the best rule imo. Clear cut and stops promotion of items on competing sites.

this would be the best thing in my opinion, discuss a company shouldnt be an issue as im pretty sure 99.99999999% of members know about these companies, just dont directly mention anything they sell.

What about Play, Asda, Tesco, Dell, Apple and the rest? They sell "similar hardware/periphal products to OcUK". This clarification is the same as it was before.

The aim if a competitor sells similar products to ourselves or has quite a focus on such a product that would be breaking the no competitor talk rules.

Fact is we used to be far stricter, at once there was no competitor talk at all, things have become more friendly in that area.

Now we can either all be sensible and realise what were saying here is don't mention competitors for similar like for like products that we sell or we simply go back to no competitor talk whatsoever and strictly edit, remove and suspend those who do.

As far as I am concerned people mentioning Tesco, other supermarkets and say Steam is no issue at all, as those companies are not a focus computer reseller.

However the amazon forest which has caused most of this is a competitor to OcUK and as such is very risky ground, the advice I give is if your unsure simply don't post it and those trying to find items then simply use google.

Lets remember OcUK forums are paid for by OcUK for you to use, its not exactly good manners to try and direct custom away from OcUK on its very own forums.

In regards to the weekends activities involving certain moderators, you have my apologies, involved parties have been dealt with and beaten accordingly.

Talking about a product, like say a DELL laptop is fine or the Kindle is fine, what is in appropiate is giving website URL's for where such items are located as that would be clearly linking to what is an OcUK competitor in certain ways as they sell products we also sell.

Isn't this a moot argument anyway? OcUK are never going to be able to sell games in a volume to complete in price against the likes of Steam and Amazon anyway - ergo we aren't going to buy games from here anyway... it's a pointless argument in my opinion.

In all honesty my loyalty goes as far as 'am I getting the best deal'... I'm not going to pay more out of some misguided sense that it's going to come back at me in some other way because it simply isn't. Hell most of the time with a little shopping around I can find cheaper pricing on many products that are listed as on special here. Periodically they do give great deals but I'm afraid that I'm not going to be buying here just for the sakes of buying just the same as OcUK are not going to give the cheapest prices because they feel a loyalty to me. They're a business and I'm a paying customer... they're not my mates.

Can we still talk about Amazon in relation to DVD's / Games? Or is this a general no Amazon talk rule?

Amazon don't sell Hardware as their core product, which is Books / DVDs / Games? So surely in relation to those specific cases we should be able to speak of them? no?

Does this mean no Asda / Tesco talk? Or Play?

Yeah, I don't understand why Amazon is such a big deal.

Never bought any hardware from there and I doubt I would.

It's not a competitor to OcUK IMO unless

Your Forum, your rules I guess.

Will need to find another place to discuss good PC gaming deals and I bet if most people here do, they will also be swayed towards other hardware stores since they are usually cheaper.

Good on you, OcUK :)

PS I'll still shop with you looking for good hardware deals but that is only because I distinguish between the service you offer on PC hardware and the non-existant that is software.

I'm going to have a chat with Gibbo guys.

And get this sorted once and for all.

Until it's "sorted" out stop posting these stupid **Official rule threads** until you have a clear understanding and have spoke to the community about the rules.

Also what's happening to the Don's?

*That's not me having a go at you Thundy, but these threads don't' help unless the rules have (imho been discussed) and 100% agreed on.

Hi,

I don't think it's reasonable to ban all mention of Amazon, any more so than it's possible to ban mention of tesco, asda or comet.

As has always been the policy (certainly for the last few years) has been that mentions of larger firms who have their fingers in many pies are okay so long as you aren't mentioning products that directly compete with OcUK.

Hence talking about toasters from comet or beans from tesco is fine, but telling people about their laptop deals isn't really on (say what you like, they wouldn't let us post our deals in their store!).

To be clear, kindle fine, games we don't sell fine, hardware not cool, games we sell (yeah, all of them) not cool.

A few dons lost their temper yesterday but to be fair to them under heavy trolling - yes trolling.

Please chill out and stop the trolling or this will go on and on and end badly.

Thanks for reading.

That contradicts todays rule.

Also; whats happening about certain Don's over their behaviour?

I would suggest that you do not continue to ask this question.

1. Telling anybody of any actions which may/may not be taken by an employee against their employer is illegal and not allowed.
2. Why do none admin members feel the need to make decisions on any future of any moderators.
3. The rules have been clarified.

Nor does it give the Don's the rights to abuse the powers they're given because they work for the company.

Those certain moderators that have still failed to apologise and we are left with these "well we told them off" line.

Knew this was coming...
