I love Final Fantasy XV

Mods are still pretty thin on the ground, but yeah an HUD /menu system mod would be nice.

I've noticed that nexus mods now have a section for this game, but it only has superficial character /clothing so far.
The modkit will be released at some point, then hopefully it will take off. There is a lot of potential for mods in this game, especially when you consider the heritage of the series.

Some they need are things like picking up items on chocobos, and quicker entering and exiting the car.
Would help speed up the game and make things more enjoyable for me.

They would definitely be useful. The chocobo one is the first one I thought of!

The big one that I'm sure will happen is adding enemies from previous games. There are so many epic enemies over the series history

Did a quick scout this afternoon and seems I'm pretty much at the point of 'no return' when I finish Chapter 8. For the ones who've finished it before is it worth polishing everything off the map first or can you come back to do those later?

I really should hate this but having tried the demo for an hour or two, I'm strangely impressed. It also looks pretty incredible maxed out at 1440p with the turf effects on and surprisingly holds 60fps constant and sometimes with ease.

This is a strange one. I'm liking it... but at the same time, I think I hate it.

The game is full of needless and bizarre design choices that frustrate the hell out of me. Little things like ending and accepting a quest. The game freezes you and takes 4-5 seconds before you get control back, even longer if you receive items at which point you're frozen until it cycles through each individual food item you receive.
Putting quest NPCs in the most inconvenient places forcing you to run for ages which in FFXV game world translates to 6 hours passing, meaning by the time you've driven to this NPC location, got out and walked to him, you now need to camp and make another meal.
The dialogue can feel fine and natural at times, but then goes downright bizarre and creepy, especially with that Ignis guy - *comes up behind you, hand on shoulder and stares into your eyes* "Are you sure you want to drive? It's dangerous at night." Yes, yes I want to drive for the 50th time!! Then he guilt trips you. "OK, well I hope you feel good about yourself because one day we'll all die due to your recklessness."

Also what is it with the characters stopping you? I see a mob in the distance, line up a best angle to attack from the rear, lock on and just when I press the trigger *Annoying and creepy shoulder grab* "Do this, then that, blah, blah." Meanwhile mobs have seen you, all are lining up and the fun gets taken from you. The game is riddled with this type of stuff.

So average day in FFXV:
It's 6am, got a list of quests scattered about in a nearby area, take car to location, hand in one quest and then head out to a nearby field for a hunt with a plan to complete it and then hand in another quest in a nearby town. Not much right? So I arrive and kill the monster, kill some airship guys and then head back to collect the reward. On the way I take a short detour to grab some nearby peppers by a tree, and then when I look up the sun is nearly down. Annoyed because this keeps happening, I grab the car thinking I can make the other town before the day is up. Unfortunately it's getting past my bedtime so I have to get permission to drive from mother Ignis, I drive along the road briskly only for the car to suddenly come to a screeching stop at which point all four characters swan dive out of the doors into the road, camera flips up and goes crazy, when it finally gives me back control I look around and there's NOTHING there. They're all like "We need to get outta here" despite the fact they were safer in the car and could have driven away.
I then quickly try to get back in but because the characters are on foot the game sends a random bloody airship. By the time I kill them one of those Iron Giants turns up and I'm forced to run back to the trailer park where before sleeping I have to appraise some random pictures and I'm given 2 levels for barely doing anything.

It's so frustrating. The game is fun when it lets you play it but it's riddled with decisions that prevent you doing too much. It's so weird, it's like the devs are control freaks and won't let you play any other way, but yet constantly give you stupid sidequests (which are pulled straight from an MMO) to do. I'm only in chapter 3 so hopefully it eases up on the shackles later on.

The party member stopping you before combat is to give you a AP bonus if you do what they suggest, it'll pop up on a timer bar at the top of your screen.

If you want to get around at night leave the car where you want to get back to, then run on the chocobos. When you've done the quest pull your map up and click return to car and you'll port back to that hub.

Outside of the comments on the story, it looks like it could get repetitive, or is this not the case?

Side missions in the open world are pretty much go here kill or collect this and bring it back several times in different locations, Nice EXP boost but not really required.

Do they make up a large part of the game or?

At the start they are worth doing to get some gil especially the hunts, after a while you can drop off doing them unless you want to 100% them, example from what I've read up the chocobo guy will eventually after you've rescued several give you a quest to get a black one that finishes the chain off.

Some don't take long at all, the catching frogs take longer to run there than collecting them.

You are just a little bit ahead of me by the look of things Glanza. I've just done the chapter Party of Three, which I think is chapter 7. Have you done the Gladiolus dlc yet? By the look of it, it is OK to do it now so I think I will.

Not yet I'm going to do them once I've got the story finished, From what I saw online your fine to do the dlc when the person who left your party for a while returns so you can fill in the blanks.

I've just done the first dlc. Probably best to do it then tbh. You get a cool sword and a new ability. Nothing is spoiled. It only took me about an hour and a half.

Game looks amazing it's just about playable at 4k with shadows on high and fxaa, however fxaa over txaa caused a bit of odd effects with grass . Videos are lagging weirdly enough. Not sure what is the best settings to turn down for 4k

Have you put the 4k textures on yet? That will probably fix your cutscene issues.
