the GitS OST's are bloody awesome

As are the Cowboy Bebop, HL2, and Bioshock OSTs

I was going to suggest some of the GITS ones

Not film, but sort of related (Final Fantasy has had at least one film right..), but some of the Final Fantasy concert/piano OST's are great, and that's coming from someone who doesn't really like the games.

Pretty much anything John Williams is good, and the LOTR is quite good as well.

Bit of a thread revival but I am now making an excellent movie soundtrack playlist based on my favourite tracks from many movies and with the help of Youtube playlists which have provided some great inspiration. The aim is to have the songs played thematically with songs from the same album played together and not separated (you can always play it randomly anyway) to provide consistency and prolong the immersion from your favourite tracks.
