I may try something similar on my deads next, it looks like it allows for lots of tightness. I approach the bar tight but it can be difficult getting into a good position without making adjustments. By being in front of the bar, and sitting back, I can imagine it allows you to use the bar to leaver back and wind up the tension more.

It really felt like a tear, but within 5 mins I had almost full pain free range. Battered it with various treatments and it isn't too bad now. Hopefully this isn't too serious, but I'm certainly having a easy week!
