If the worst came to the worst and things escalated

I live about 30 miles from RAF Fairford (where they sometimes keep B52s and B1 Lancers) and about 30 from London.

Russian nuclear weapons are likely horribly inaccurate, Fairford probably has 2-4 weapons against it and London and surrounding areas would probably get in the Region of 50-100 weapons landing on it, so basically I’m gone.

However, if by a Miracle the Russian weapons mostly failed or malfunctioned, or I somehow survived my plan would be:

Conquer one of the many ridiculously expensive mansions around where I live, a £2-3million one would do nicely! Plenty of old duffers with too much cash around here, survival of the fittest now matters most - so they’d all be easy game for a fit fierce wastelander like me.

Most of them drive those silly gigantic range rovers, which are so big they can never park them properly. I could retrofit spikes, armour plating and offensive weaponry to it, couple of flail hedge trimmers to the front and sides would be cool!

Lots of people shoot around here too, so I could likely find some firearms (I’m firearms trained) so I’d be fine with a couple of shotguns and/or rifles if some of the yuppies around here tried it on.

Then as a dog lover, I’d have about 5x Bullmastiffs, living with me, and a gigantic room in my mansion with a huge hearth where I can keep a fire going and chill with them.

As a Carp angler (since I was 8) my fish catching skills are +9000, and I know where most of the larger fish are in lakes nearby or the Thames, provided I could last a month and the levels of dangerous radionuclides would mostly been reduced - I could empty most of the lakes around here if fish!

So yeah, I could sit in my silly house which stinks of dog, shoot/drive over irradiated yuppies, eat Carp and basically live a pretty silly and unlikely existence..

Maybe if luck could have it, a bunch of us in here could rig bits of the internet together and get some sort of forum going again, maybe some of you could come down and take over some of the other silly £million houses, and we could live in a weird post apocalyptic community of neck beards in Berkshire xD

I learned the other day Russia has an automatic doomsday system, if it detects radiation or certain other factors it launches. I'd be more worried about that accidentally going off.

I grew up in the 1980’s and we had air raid siren tests to make us ready if poop did hit the fan . Was a scary time as a child and there was a real threat then of all out war so nothing really new to worry about

Dead hand system . They have had that since the 1960’s it’s an automatic system that will launch all nukes if it stops receiving messages after a certain amount of time

Russian ICBM’s are accurate to about 500 ft . in the early days of the Cold War it was about 5 miles hence the reason they built stupid big bombs

I wouldn't say it is inevitable, though I don't rule out the isolated use of a nuclear weapon(s) in tactical type situation or more demonstrative to try and intimidate.

Putin isn't crazy enough to use nukes while his own arse is on the line (Russian top levels of government/military are more like a cartel or mafia), I do think he is crazy enough to try and use them to prevent his downfall or in a manner of "if I'm going down so are you" however unfortunately.

Modern use of nuclear weapons in some ways I think are worse than the big old atom bombs of the Cold War as the main urban centres and infrastructure will be gone but a lot of people will remain without functioning government, supplies or modern conveniences, etc. (sadly I think most of the survivors in this country will be more at each other's throats than trying to organise to survive).

Their weapons have a rather mixed track record in use - the early "precision" strikes on Ukraine when things kicked off with missiles with a CEP in the ~100-200feet range or less depending on configuration mostly missed the target by a good 500 feet.

I live in "Everyone and their mums is packin’ round here" country - they'll likely be the ones holding the firearms, and calling the shots, rather than people finding them to use themselves.

Round here, they’re all half dead and half blind, they can barely even drive straight let alone shoot :D

I live just a tadge under 1 mile from an absolutely 100% guaranteed target, I probably won't even have time to register any pain before I'm blinked out of existence by even the smallest current SLBM/ICBM, assuming they actually work. Hell, even the relatively tiny 15kt Nagasaki bomb would still be virtually an insta-kill for me!

In Nantwich we are lucky enough have a 'secret nuclear bunker' just down the road, it is well signposted. It was completed in 1984 so not too outdated and because it is also a visitor attraction, not too shabby.
With a four minute warning I could be battering on the door as lights pinpricked the horizon. Liverpool gone, Manchester, Oh there goes Stoke, Warrington, Cheshire Oaks? :)

Does no one think Russia were put into a corner by NATO and US encroachment both disregarding the North Atlantic treaty?

No. Russia do not get to dictate what alliances other sovereign countries join. If they fail to culturally and politically obtain alliances, that is on them.

Any premis that Russia were under any sort of threat of invasion/war from the west is total and utter delusion/lies.

The road to it has been closed every time I have been into Nantwich recently! ;) Even if you could drive there it's probably being used to house asylum seekers anyway... :)

Or perhaps reactivation is underway to allow the good burghers of Cheshire East to continue dictating the affairs of men post apocalypse. Good transport links are nearby such as the Shropshire Union canal which could connect to the southern nuclear wastelands of Brum and beyond also to the north, the Greater Mersey depression via Ellesmere Port.

Some artistic licence involved.

But the US & UK government does get to dictate what countries do what?
