If you pay for 5 minutes to inflate your tyres - how long would you expect to inflate them for?

We have equipment to check the accuracy of tyre inflators. l’ve not had to condemn one yet. I’d be more concerned that they were equal pressure rather than 1-2 psi over or under.

Usually each tyre no more than 0.5 PSI down which requires five pumps on the foot pump to bring them up and sometimes no extra air is needed as they are still what I set them to two week’s previously. Occasionally if it’s got warmer over the two weeks they go up 0.5 PSI and I have to let a little out.
Doesn't the mere act of connecting and disconnecting a pump/gauge mean that you lose a little bit of pressure each time? How do you take that into account?

It’s not a problem when removing the pump as I check with the gauge straight after. I find as long as you apply firm pressure onto the valve with the gauge you get an instant reading and lose very little air. If you’re a bit loose with the connection onto the valve with the gauge you can lose air.

Lithium battery powered inflators rock!

The Mrs has a Ring 12v DC powered inflator (which for some reason she insists keeping in the boot of her car) which you hook up to the car's power supply, but it's a faff extending the cable and passing it through the doors either side. I got in the habit of using my cycle track pump instead!

This new one I bought is an Aldi special and was £12 excluding the battery and charger, but I had that anyway for the gardening tools. It's shaped like a cordless drill, but instead of a drill chuck a short length (admittedly very short) of airline with a shraeder inflator valve on the end.

Simply dial in your chosen pressure (bar or psi) connect the line and pull the trigger until the unit cuts out when the desired pressure is reached.

I actually enjoy using it!

Yes I am sad.

I've got the Ring one, keep it in the boot in case of emergencies

when i get my new car , ill be getting the cordless version

and thanks for the last thread on "which inflator" as someone pointed out to me you get get a quick release adaptor to fit on the ring (screw) so its quicker to get on and off now

I got the ring one recently but the version with a battery. You can stgill use the cig lighter if out of charge but will do several tyres on a full charge. Best thing ever

Oh link please?

Where else should one keep an air pump?

Fair point. Her car has a space saver spare tyre, rather than a pot of goo and an inflator that's in my car, but I guess her inflator could come in handy in the event of a slow puncture.

FYI I keep my main inflator in the garage along with my other car bits and bobs.

Anyone got a link to a decent battery tyre inflator? I've been looking for a decent one since i found out the cheap AA one i've got is about 5 PSI off lol.
