If you use V-power

Sainsbury's Super (if there's any left) is absolutely fine and it's what I run my car on 99% of the time ;)

This has reminded me, one of my friends drives a '99 Skyline GTR and he genuinely believes his car was designed to run on 100RON fuel, he won't put anything except V-Power and Momentum in it, its going to be soo funny to find out how he's taking to all this XD

100 available in Japan, and many cars are set up for that, so there's a strong chance he's correct...

Mine can use peasant fuel but will have to use less welly and wear a bag on my head when paying so no one sees. Will never admit it online because of e peen

silly panic buyers, mass media: there will be a shortage, so get your fuel now, thus there IS a shortage because everyone just panic bought. FAIL!

Meh if I run out of fuel I consider that a good enough reason to take a few days off work, as long as I can last till sunday (when I'm off work) I'm happy

got a full tank of the stuff yesterday afternoon, and the car is going in for a service and a few tweeks/upgrades at the start of next week, cant see me needing to refuel for a couple of weeks.

Yep completely possible, however i find it unlikely, i would imagine it has been mapped at some point since landing on these shores and i would imagine it would have been mapped on Vpower(or similar premium unleaded), however that is just me speculating.

Indeed, but being mapped for Vpower still supports ubersonic's friends 'belief' really.

Personally my car is mapped for Vpower, and the only alternative I'll use is Tesco 99 - no way I'll use anything lower, and an emergency requiring that is unlikely given that it isn't my everyday car!

The 100 Ron in japan is their equivalent of our Tesco 99 or V-Power (in rarity not octane I mean), it only became available towards the end of the 90's and didn't become widespread until post 2000. No car made in the 20th century was ever set up for it from the factory.

And the funny thing is we have told him this many times yet he still believes he needs 100RON fuel because internet myths say so.

A 1999 skyline wont be mapped for 100RON from the factory, its not been that common in japan until recent. It will be setup for 99RON so V power or tesco 99 over here is fine.

Sainsburys Super is 98 so you could get away with that and some NF octane booster

Is V-Power and Tesco 99 so different that you will only fill up with V-Power? Tesco 99 is quite a lot cheaper in our area.
i notice no difference between the 2, my can runs fine on tesco 99, but if given the choice i use Vpower as it was mapped on this fuel, plus there is very little difference in price and distance to either petrol station.

They are both 99RON.

On a sadder note, the local Shell to me is sold out of all unleaded. Diesel is still flowing though  I've got 47 miles in the tank, and a 24 mile commute tomorrow... Fun.

My mother fits perfectly with this whole fiasco: "Well I filled up from half a tank on Tuesday just in case"
In case of what?
"In case there was a fuel shortage"
Argh! YOU PEOPLE ARE THE REASON THERE IS A FUEL SHORTAGE!
