Iiyama GB3461WQSU-B1 - Flat 34" 1440 144HZ 1MS IPS Freesync for <£400

Well no problems so far with flickering, standby etc. My GPU is Vega 56 and connected via DP (I'm using one I got from amazon iirc)

Unsure what to do, there is some bleed but it is very little, in fact, you could probably say mine was good when compared to the majority of IPS panels out there.....) also when I apply some pressure to the bezel on the bottom, it goes....

BTW for those who noticed the warping at the sides when you start to look at it from an angle, I think this is kind of normal for UW as my 29 has it too but it's not as obvious because it's a smaller display.

My lg 29 definitely had ever so slightly blacker blacks and less bleed and a less hazy finish but colours overall are better on iiyama. I always wonder could I have caused the bleed issues with how I was handling the monitor when setting it up, I don't think I applied too much pressure to the screen although I did ever so slightly hit it of my chair :p

For £400, it is superb, can't complain too much really.

What settings are people using then? So far I have got my brightness set to 25 and contrast to 50 and the warm colour setting (remember whites are technically suppose to have a slightly warmer/yellow tone), haven't messed with the overdrive etc. stuff yet.

+2 introduces overshoot for me. (look for the purple trails)
Can't say I notice any, there probably is but the motion of the UFOs looks a lot clearer to my eyes with +2 :/

EDIT:

Just to report, no issues with sleep etc. still.

Starting to think it could be nvidia gpus not playing nicely with the monitor?

As said above.

There are different types of matte finishes too, some have a hazy effect and some have no hazy effect at all. My 29um65 was superb for its finish, it had a nice "pop" look to it where the image feels like it's floating on top of the display where as the iiyama is ever so slightly muted, almost like a screen protector over it, but I am extremely fussy about this so it probably wouldn't bother 99% of other people :p

EDIT:

One other niggling "feature/issue", so when freesync is enabled, you can't enable any of the other features, which is understandable, however, can't even adjust the aspect ratio of the monitor to suit other systems with freesync turned on :/

yeah I noticed that if you want HDR etc on then no freesync... although I'll be honest, I've never been able to tell the difference with having gsync/freesync enabled in games, but then I always try to target a minimum of 100fps in most games I play.

It's not really a big deal either as this monitor like 99% of the other so called HDR monitors out there don't actually have the proper hardware to do what HDR was made for, it's just a case of it being able to support a HDR signal and that's it.

Yeah 144HZ and freesync is nice!

Although I still standby what I been saying for years now, they aren't as good as what people make them out to be imo :p

For me the best part of freesync is not having to mess with vsync, fps locks etc.

I have had to raise my scale to 125% as found my eyes straining with how small everything is at 100%! Much better!

Screen really is great value for £400, no real complaints from me other than the niggling issues already mentioned. Makes you question what exactly do the £800+ UW offer over this..... Only real reason to go for another UW with these specs is if you need a curve and on that note, I do find 34" too wide tbh, even if there was a curve but sadly the 29" form factor was dead in terms of getting good specs :(

I'll still be playing the majority of games on the oled @ 60HZ@1440 though as the IQ is just far too good but for FPS and some third person shooter games, this is fantastic.

EDIT:

Just need someone with proper calibration hardware now to give some good settings :p

Thoroughly enjoying this monitor!

Getting used to the size and still no problems.

Have dropped my brightness to 13 now too, wish I could find out what the brightness setting for 120 nits is.

Unlucky Double07 :(

It really isn't sounding good this!

Also, I just noticed that there is a faint mark on the far right side of my panel...... as if someone had scuffed it, not noticeable unless looking at it from the right side under certain angles and lighting and it just so happens that the right side of my box had a bit of damage too, definitely seems like something happened with this batch of monitors and the right hand side of the box!

Right, I have had a few flickers there as well as the sleep issue and then the right side of the monitor getting corrupted/stuck..... :/

Hopefully just a one of, will keep an eye on it.

Fingers crossed this can be updated ourselves though as don't really want to send the monitor back in the hands of careless delivery people :/

Loving this monitor!

Have had a few issues with the screen waking up now but..... it's not really a massive issue turning it off and on again and it is very rare as it is.

Also, I remembered this happening with my lg 29um65 too so that is why I turned off the "turn off display" via windows in the end, also, because lg had some sorcery where if a black/blank screen i.e. my screen saver was on, the monitor would actually turn off or go into standby itself.

Decent enough review and agree with most of it.

Although, the panel is 10 bit, at least that is what shows in AMD control panel.

As for the freesync range, I do agree, it is a bit high at 48 fps starting range but....... in my experience, regardless of free/g sync, anything less than 60 fps is still horrible so personally I always aim for at least 60 fps anyway.

Did you check your GPU control panel settings? For some reason, mine activated a few adjustments like the colour temp when I connected it to this monitor.

Although it definitely doesn't have the same punch as my lg 29um65 in darker scenes (probably cause of the weaker contrast) but on the whole, I think the colours are better, more bright/vivid in their own way. Been playing some BL 3 and division 2 and they look great, both at the opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of colour palette and art style.

Saying that, I would expect the £900+ screens to have better IQ as they are using LGs IPS panels iirc.

EDIT:

Also, make sure 10 bit is selected in your control panel.

Speaking of the standby issues, mine has had it a few more times (vega 56 connected via amazon DP cable) but still rare enough to not bother me too much, willing to put up with it given how good the display is for lack of backlight bleed and the price etc.

Has iiyama responded anymore since that ticket was raised? @Phobos_

EDIT:

Was having a look to see if there were any drivers on their site just in case this might solve the issue but can't see anything and noticed in their specs:

16.7mln 8bit

Yet........

TBH, I was put of that LG 27" 1440 IPS 144HZ screen because of it's 800:1 contrast ratio reports but now with this one, it isn't too much of an issue in all honesty, in terms of dark scenes, it sucks massively compared to VA and especially OLED but that will be the same with any IPS screen.

It's better to have a lesser contrast ratio with little to no bleed than a high contrast ratio with severe bleed or/and glow issues.
