IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover Anounnced with 128 player multiplayer

Looks nice, though I doubt I'll be getting it any time soon having just picked up Il-2 and a joystick for the first time since the Amiga days. Multiplayer and shinier graphics don't interest me much so for the time being IL-2 1946 will do me fine.

Could be the first game that makes me buy a flight controller, I just hope it doesn't have Ubi's constant Internet connection DRM as that will mean I won't buy it.

One time activation via internet for DRM according to a german UBI rep, no constant connection required.

Thank god for that. I was dreading another Silent Hunter 5.
Everyone was dreading that, but as above, it is said to be online for activation only, and I'm all for that. I'd like to help the developers get paid, this isn't like the mass market dross we're constantly fed, this has taken serious research and programming effort.

It wouldn't have stopped me buying it if I'm honest, but it would have annoyed the hell out of me.
Like many others, I haven't bought Assassin's Creed because of the crazy DRM, but like you, I'd buy this. Simply because supporting the developer is more important to me than boycotting the stupid publisher.

Is this game going to be as hardcore as the original il2?

Well I guess il2 was adjustable to how hardcore you wanted it, will this game be hardcore if you turn all the help off?

It'll be configurable again, hopefully the UI will be a bit easier to use this time around though.
