I'm 31 in three weeks....

I don't get the 'am I too old for games threads'.

I mean what are you going to do instead, watch Coronation street ? Sky sports news endless groundhog day ? Surely as you get older it actually a great way to unwind anyway.

44 in 3 months and started with pong back in the 70's.

Always been a gamer and probably always will. It has been exciting watching it evolve over the years both hardware and software.

In all seriousness, I don't think age is important. I also don't think anyone is in the position to say their gaming experience growing up doesn't count because they weren't part of a certain generation.

For the record, I'm 25 and played on the Atari when I was 4 (which was pretty much my first ever gaming experience), which was my dad's console. So even though I may have missed the golden years when it was first released, I certainly still had a gaming experience with it that is just as relevant.

The same could be said for when I was playing games like Doom, Duke Nukem, and Wolfenstein in the 90's on the PC. Just because I wasn't old enough to build or own my own computer (it was my dad's), I still played those games just as much as someone that did, and who was older.

But yeah back to topic. Those who started playing pc gaming in the CoD years aren't true gamers.

Thought I'd get in on some of the action of stirring a few things up while I can.

39 and going strong. I have other interests aside from gaming, but I can't see me ever stopping it, or even reducing the time spent on it by much at all.

45 in July, Started in the 70's on Binatone, Acetronic (Radofin). Had almost every computer and console as they came out til present day. I'll stop when I die unless I can carry on as a ghost!!!

You youngsters (31's) you might have had an Spectrum or CBM 64 but it doesn't make you that generation ;) you would be more Amiga / 16 bit console generation!

My wife who's 31 (yup 13 years younger :D) had a CBM 64 but she also says her friends had Amiga's but her mum wouldn't spend that sort of money so she got a used CBM 64!

Well, the whole generation thing would be a boring conversation without elitism and exclusion :)

I'm 32 and feel like I'm just entering the prime of my life, never had so much luck with women and my quality of life is pretty damn good.

My 20's were mostly **** in comparison.

49 here and I've been throwing stuff together for games since the ZX80 kit came out.

Played Colossal Caves on an £80k DEC PDP-1100 in 1982 as I recall, soon after starting work for my first full time job down here. Used to get up to all sorts of shenanigans on nights, including jumping around all the units of one of the first water cooled IBM mainframes in the country, which we had. A snip at £5 million if memory serves. I later hacked into the Engineer's account on it which got me a couple of steps up the ladder a week later, but I digress...

I love gaming and am looking forward to what the future may bring.

You should be old enough and wise enough to realise that some people don't get wiser as they get older. Unless you're actually one of those people :)

too old... I'm hoping that my retirement home is one big LAN party - and not just the outlet for low paid workers to abuse/neglect me like the ones today.

I feel like I'm 20. But, am I too old for all this? Surely not?

Gaming has no age limits. Nothing in today's world should have an age limit either, do what you want to do whatever the age.
30 to 40 will fly by apparently so I'd be more concerned about that :) although when you hit 40 you will not feel any different apparently
