Trypophobics beware. :D

I bought a little box that lets me use the same keyboard and mouse between my work laptop and my personal machine. The button acts like a toggle. Really quite neat.

What is this witchcraft?! Link!

I’m forever picking up my work mouse when playing counterstrike during the day at the weekend.

Amazon search KVM switch. They've been around many years now and are quite useful for multi system setups with one set of input devices.

It's has a 5v power input (plug not supplied) which I am told, when plugged in, can then support higher power things like webcams and such, but I haven't needed anything additional just to use my keyboard and wireless mouse.

If it doesn't work out for you, I recommend this one:
https://smile.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B002NTIZCG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Rather than having all the clutter visible (because the button is on the KVM itself), this one has a separate button that I've cable tied to my keyboard so it is super discrete.

Edit: as always with Amazon it isn't super clear there are several very different ones tagged together. Mine is just USB, not VGA.

I had no end of issues with the one of those I bought. I ended up switching to using Synergy
+1 for Synergy if it suits your needs (separate computers, separate screens, one keyboard/mouse across both desktops).

I'm guessing it can also be setup to work two computers off one screen if that's your need.

Thanks guys, the KVM switch looks ideal. Will definitely declutter my desk no end.

Synergy also looks good but I can’t install software on my work laptop.
