This makes it easier for someone to smash the window and open the door from the inside too though, doesn't it?

Depends entirely on the locking mechanism. If they've smashed a window though people will know or they'll be able to get in through the gap anyway...

Ours is hung the same way, this allows the door to open beyond 90deg instead of the less than 90deg it would be once you put the stopper on the skirting to stop the door handle hitting the wall. Previous door used to be up against the wall with the locking up to the panel, prefer it with the hinges on the panel.

Sorted out? I'm heading over to his tomorrow to rearrange the door and paint that bloody wall and skirting board.

Oh and to steal some of the boys lego.
