Images of items I have purchased (except trainers [no feet pics])

Last day of sun so we'll see if I can make it early enough tomorrow -

Rotovator/scarifier?

Can I borrow it?

I'm in need one one, sadly running out of places to store one, kids have a lot of stuff! Might have to consider not parking the car in the garage. :(

I bought the Screwfix one which gets great reviews especially.for £69 I think it was. It comes with a Scarifier and Spring Tine cassettes.

A guy has also made a Verticutter cassette that slots straight in so I have that as well (he makes them for a few different scarifiers). All ready for next season as CBA doing it this year.

I've used it twice (yesterday evening and this morning). It'll probably gather dust for a year now I guess? No idea. My garden was 90% thatch so thought it was worth it. It dug up what would constitute about 40 regular mows tho, lol. I'm lucky I have ample space to store it, but it certainly wouldn't be high up my list if I didn't. Rental/street whatsapp group etc first port of call.

Verticutter cassette

What is this because I need it? :D

Scarifying is generally done once or twice a year... Verticutting, on the other hand is generally done once every 4 weeks or so.

A Verticutter is similar to a scarifying unit but has a few more blades and packed closer together. It is used at a higher height (just above ground level unlike a scarifier). It is used to cut any lateral stems in the grass. The grass then repairs itself by throwing out more lateral stems which ends up thickening the grass sward. A thick grass sward helps prevent weeds and weed grasses as their seeds either don't make it to the soil or the grass shades then so they don't grow

Verticutting also helps keep Annual Meadow Grass at bay. Due to their very shallow rooting and flat growth, AMG hate being cut like that and eventually give up and die off allowing the proper grass to take over.

Ya man, you're welcome. I'll DM my post code. Bring tools and book a full day for collection tho (just in case) :D

Edit: just scarifier rather than rotavator tho
DM me also, on my way, I really need one I've got so much thatch and the cheapy Titan one I bought has a waste bin that literally gets full after about 20 seconds and that's not an exaggeration. I really want to get my lawn sorted but just know its £££

Don't use catcher... I've never seen a scarifier that has a decent catcher... Just let the thatch come out the back and rake it up at the end.

So figured I'd change speaker cables too as the spade ended ones I have, whilst very good build quality, don't offer a neat fit in the terminals due to the much small space to work with and are angled too which don't suit a flat amp but do the old amp's vertical orientation.

These are super cheap on Amazon, and the quality is very high at the same time. £15 per side:

I wedged the thing open - the box thing was a total waste of time.

Totally welcome to borrow it if you want to.

Ah, another Osprey fan. I have a few too including the Farpoint 40 (brother bag to the Fairpoint).

I love the trampoline back ones.
The hikelite is amazing. It feels so different to an old solid back.

I decided to go for the 40 (for my big pack).
I didn't think the 55 was necessary for me as a solo traveller.
What I'll probably do is use the 40+18. That gives 58L.

I can't see ever needing more than that for 7-14 day trips.

The little pack is for biking. It also has the trampoline style back.

I keep my 18 and 12 on those hooks. But 40 will be tucked away as it'll be used rarely.

Watched some reviews of 55 vs 40 and 55 was just 55 because it had a mini pack.
But the mini pack looked like poo. Basically a sack. So decided on 40 and my 18.

I've been gradually reducing the amount of stuff I carry. I don't use the 40 for traveling much now. It's a fantastic pack but more recently I downgraded to a Porter 30. For travel I now use that and a small sling to carry my passport etc through the airport. 40 would be the absolute largest I would consider on a longer trip. 55 would definitely be overkill.

Minimalist travel:
