It's just for looks trying to be more like a racing car wheel than conventional round wheel, which isn't surprising when 99% of Audi drivers seemingly drive like they're in an actual race

I actually think the flat bottom looks nice even if it is entirely pointless.

All this said, please remember there are 3 (sometimes 4) lanes on the motorway and indicating doesn't lower the value of your car.

No sorry the year is fixed as in it doesn't flap over like the rest, you get a bag of numbers that pop in.
