~~~~~IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT - Regarding Intel Sandybridge CPU/Motherboards (1000's IN STOCK)!!~~~~~
bit of kick in the face when they showed stock tbf. I think all said places should concentrate on their own business and not waste time commenting on others.
I really can't see what the rush is to buy a new sandy bridge. It's not like it's the end of the world if you don't.
It's best to wait a while. SB will probably be a bit cheaper by then. Don't forget motherboards can have bugs with the first releases. New revisions come out later that can sort the bugs out. It's not always a bios update that fix problems.
Btw I have looked at the new SB motherboards and they no longer seem to have IDE, floppy or the old PCI. Are these not supported any more?
I would need at least one PCI slot, if I were going to buy in future.
Some still have PCI i think but board manufacturers and Microsoft are trying to encourage people to upgrade. Partly for money, but also so that kit doesn't have to be tested with so much legacy crap.
10 would not last us probably 5 minutes, for a hot launch like this you need a minimum of 100 and as many as you can get. Thats why in total we had 1200 units arrive.
We want to be able to deliver on time and not keep our customers waiting, I'd be well and truly annoyed as a customer if I ordered the latest hardware, paid next day shipping and did not get it for 1-2 weeks later.
Thats why OcUK was well prepared, we forecasted, ordered our stock early and now will ready to go, just gotta hit the big red button. :D
1,200 sounds a lot at first (was that really the largest amount of stock you were allocated), but with the forums going into overdrive for the new chips, aren't OCUK going to run low within a week easy?
I'm awaiting more information on Sunday 9th for the i7 2600K oc bundle, as that's the official release date. Can we expect to see OCUK stock more than 1,200 from then on to satisfy the increasing demand?
Overall Gibbo, you've handled this release really, really well and kept the customers informed every day on stock via the forum which avoids much of the anxiety if any. We all know by now which components to order from your listings. With such a massive launch as this is, you've gotta be on your toes. Here's a big thank you on behalf of everyone here :D
On second thoughts, knowing DPD, perhaps not!
Too true. My 2500K was supposed to come today but, seemingly determined to sink below my already miserably low expectations of them, the Muppet Courier Company (aka DPD) didn't even bother to try and deliver it. This maintains their impressive record of having never once got a parcel to me on the expected delivery date. :(
The Sandy Bridge CPUs are listed to buy now. The i7-2600K 3.40GHz is listed at £269.99 and i5-2500K 3.30GHz at £184.99.
And for those after the overclocked bundles, this nice setup below will costs you £599.99 (£579.32 separate).
- CPU: Intel Core i7 2600K 3.40GHz @ 4.60GHz Sandybridge CPU
- Motherboard: Asus P8P67 DELUXE Intel P67 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard
- RAM: Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel
- Cooler: Akasa Venom CPU Cooler
- Artic Silver 5 Thermal Compound
4.6GHz is the maximum stable overclock for the 2600K on air without killing the lifespan of the product. Want to get this bundle but with 8GB RAM of around 2000MHz for rendering, but would it be fine with 1600MHz? I like the look of the Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) kit instead which also supports XMP plus room for adding more.
Edit: Just seen a competitors bundle managing to squeeze "upto" 4.9GHz out of the 2600K on air. Thats crazy! But at least OCUK state what their clocks will be.
