Inception - July 16th

I saw the film last week on a free preview screening at a local cinema, honestly thought it was fantastic, Nolan is a crazy, crazy genius. Definitely the highest calibre film I've seen this year, if not for the last few years.

As for a sequel; I think Nolan has shown restraint from cashing in on a successful film before - with Memento. I really hope he shows the same restraint here, as I think a sequel would really detract from the original film.

Saw this last night, truely awesome. Best film in years, agreed it is better than dark knight. How do you think of a story line like that, it really is pure genius. Hope theres no sequel, as it always somewhat of a let down. cough cough...Predator 2, Godfather 3, Speed 2, the list goe on

Awesome film, amazed me more and more with every scene.

Defo want to go see it again on the big screen and a MUST own when it gets released on Bluray.

Thoroughly deserves its current rating of 9.3/10 on IMDB.

Just got back from seeing this at the IMAX in Liverpool. What can i say other than absolutely brilliant. I went in thinking that it will be an O.K. film and that my girlfriend won't like it as it will probably be an all out action film but no, this film is great on many levels and has something for everyone. The girlfriend loved it because of the love story and complexity of what was going on and i love any film that makes you think what the hell is going on and you work it out while watching it.

Not really a spoiler here but i liked what was in the safe as it was a bit 'Citizen Kane'

Watched this the other night, was ok, the plot got stupid though and it became very difficult to take it seriously. Oh let's go into another level of dreaming .. yeah :/

Some decent acting, good effects and good cinematography, but the script was poor at times, some really poor lines, and as I said, the plot was not for me at all. Also found periods of the film very tedious, overall I'm just very shocked this has been so popular, it was pretty good but nothing special

Agreed. It was a good film, good visuals, with good acting, but no more. Didn't find it very confusing just a bit predictable once they started going into dreams within dreams. I thought the van would never stop falling at the end. Not the strongest actual plot either, 'lets replace something in a safe'.

6.5/10

Read a book on lucid dreaming and you will realise that dream levels and false awakenings are very real things.

I'm speaking from experience btw

i recently watched this film with my family and i think they couldve done it soo much better. there was no need for so much violence. the idea was brilliant but they were able to make it so much more sophisticated.

i mean compare this to the usual suspects...

For people struggling with this film I suggest you read some books on lucidity.

Also the totems that they use are real tools when practicing lucid dreaming to tell if your still dreaming or not. I used to use my watch for this, if I checked my watch and it didn't look right I'd realise and become lucid.

Fair enough I'm not really educated in any way about dreams and lucid dreaming so that's probably why this movie went straight over my head

Here is an extract of something I posted in the "Lucid dreaming" thread in GD weeks ago...

I have since read books on the subject and talked to friends who have had the same experiences and tried many experiments and different things within dreams. I can honestly say that the brain is far far more strange and poweful than we get to experience in waking life. Some of the greatest things I have experinced in my life happened when lucid dreaming, next time your in one go and have a conversation with your subconcious.

A word of warning though....on at least 3 occasions I have gone so deep into lucidity that each time i woke up from a dream i was in another dream. This happened so many times once that I believed that my physical body had actually died and that I was now perminatly trapped in the dream world / afterlife. I have never ever been so releived to finally wake up propperly...

So you'll understand why this film had such an effect on me...

Watched it, ok film.

Possible Spoilers

Found the film quite simple in all honesty, the so called complexity isn't really there. Pay attention to the overly repeated exposition throughout the film, just a dream within a dream, within a dream. Each set in a distinct environment, the who's dream it belongs to isn't really relevant as it doesn't have an impact.

The entire plot/sub plot/ending are already setup within the first parts of the film so it wasn't surprising, even the shock ending. Again it's heavily hinted at throughout the film to the point Mal and Michael Caine's actually say it.

The score is okay but overly used, something that's seen a really big push recently in films. Stick big brooding instrumental music into key scenes, just missing the angry choir.
Acting is okay but there isn't much to work with in all honesty as it's either explaining concepts or being chased by something.

Could have been so much more with a dream environment setting.

Mind. Blown.

FWIW there are some very nice high res wallpapers and posters on the official site: http://inceptionmovie.warnerbros.com/

Spent a fair amount of time today buggering about with win7 wallpaper tiling to make this happen:

When are they going to bloody add options for per-desktop wallpaper setting?

Not to deviate - AMAZING. And massive credit for not inserting pseudo science ******** about how the inception works.

Watched this at the imax recenetly and thoroughly enjoyed, got a stuck near the front though which sucked so may have to go back and watch it from a good seat in the future.
