Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

Not sure where the time travel theories are coming from, I read somewhere the movie is meant to open with a scene from the Nazi Germany era, but that doesn't mean time travel is involved, just could be showing a series of events that plays into the story when he's older.

I suppose we'll see which version was correct once the film is released.

I think 'dial of destiny' kind of indicates some sort of time machine...

Revisiting the franchise with Crystal Skull was dumb, I mean the ending of Last Crusade was pretty obvious in its meaning, it shows him and his little band riding off into the sunset. But of course the lure of money undone that for Crystal Skull which was abysmal. Maybe this can be better...but in reality Last Crusade had the perfect ending..

Reading leaks for the plot of any movie will spoil your enjoyment of it, even a good one.

Given how bad the last one was and the trend for ’re-imagining’ existing IP’s equating to both utterly ruining them and treating long-term fans with contempt, the probability I would enjoy it is so low that I’m not bothered if I know the story in advance or not.

Just to clarify - that study involved <1000 university students with a 20/80 male/female spilt only being read short stories and the difference in enjoyment was overstated as "significant" when in reality it was the difference between 6.2 out of 10 for spoiled vs 5.79 out of 10 for unspoiled which is a 5% difference i.e. not significant.

Personally anyone who saw The Empire Strikes Back or The Usual Suspects and, knowing "the twist" before hand, still said they'd have enjoyed it less if the twist was a surprise is an absolute buffoon who should not be in university taking part in these studies........IMHO of course :)

I've never understood the love for the films after the first. Raiders of the Lost Ark is by far the best of the franchise. The tone changed after its success, going from comic book romp with some brutal moments to PG friendly comedy adventure with slapstick elements. Raiders is in my top 10 films of all time, and probably in the top 3 films I've watched the most times. I was obsessed with it when I was younger, but the sequels never captivated me in the same way at all.

I seem to be alone in this though, with many people citing Crusade as their favourite, it just blows my mind. As for Crystal skulls, at least everyone universally agrees that was a bad idea and I'm almost certain this one will be too.

Just like The Matrix, JAWS and Ghostbusters, there is only one good Indiana Jones film.

Come at me...
