Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

I think the first couple of Indiana Jones movies were products of their time, and are better in the remembering than the rewatching; as opposed to the films since which are better not remembered. That said, the trailer looks good, so... maybe they'll get it right this time?

Wow this really is doing to be bad. Very very bad.

They have over spent on expensive reshoots

Test screenings have been reported as horrible. Up to 5 versions of the film are on the table. With all receiving bad feedback.

My god, how bad is that CGI face shot when he's on the horse and it rears up in NYC(?) mid trailer - understand trailers often have unfinished CGI but how did ever that get approved for use.

Probably because it's literally a single second of the trailer, and as mentioned people are clued in enough now about cgi in movies to know that things like faces are continually being worked on til the last minute.

I have no doubt it'll get fixed, really jarring as I was actually quite enjoying the trailer (sacrilege I know) then that pushed me right out of any immersion.

According to the director there have been zero test screenings. Sounds like typical internet hyperbole whipping up drama where there is none.

Well, there was talk about how the fx on the new Terminator was off in that latest Terminator film (I forget which now), and that it's "only the trailers" and that it'll get fixed. But it turns out those were the final vfx shots. So I would say "in general", the expectation is there's a good chance there's more to be done and added, but this is not a certainty by any means anymore. Gone are the days when incomplete shots are used in place of completed ones in order to get a trailer out until the real (money) shot is incorporated and reincorporated into the film. There days, it's more about "saving money" and accepting "good enough" work instead of asking for the best.

To look at it another way however, if Mangold is not lying (and to be honest, we have no reason to expect Mangold to lie given they know what the reaction will be) but if the rumors from the leaks are true, then there's still an alternative possibility that the leaks are true on; It's Harrison "Indiana Jones" Ford who is the fraud. And that that original "Indiana" might actually be Phoebes character instead. Therefore, Harrison remains Indiana and is not replaced as Indiana, but the "original" Indiana Jones may never have been them (Harrison) anyway, and thus, Mangold will have never lied, but the leaks may be true still.

This is just theory think through logic, so should be treated as such. So I will not say Indiana Jones fans are out of the woods yet regarding Indy 5.

aint it cute that you still believe, bless :)

So nobody has tested any of this seven months before release  I used to work for UCI back in the day (Universal and Paramount venture) and we watched screeners up to a year before release.

Or maybe theyre forgoing them this time around to avoid apoilers being leaked on a big name movie. Would make a change vs the last lot of years where people can find out a lot about movies due to test screenings months or weeks before release. Not all movies get test screenings either.

As for watching movies upto a year before their release. Any effects heavy movies would be barely in any state to watch that long before launch, nothing but placeholder cgi or total sequences missing because it was still in the works so that must have been a "fun" experience.

But yeah, I'll ignore the director and trust random Internet suttlebutt that's always on point and would never stir the pot with bs.....
