*** Infestation: Survivor Stories ***

Maybe, again, Rocket could have had a usb full of files and concept art and just made the mod based on what was on it. Its just as easy to twist this to say DayZ ripped off WarZ. :p

All I've done is twist this whole 'DayZ ripoff' rubbish people are talking the other way around, hardly being a fanboy.

I was referring to your first post where you sounded fanatical.

Perhaps, but with the much higher quality visuals (and considering how poorly coded ArmA 2 is, DayZ players could handle these levels of visuals easily if made right), the promising list of features and the fact its standalone on what might be a beautiful engine (ArmA 2 doesn't quite suit zombie survival IMO), if it lives up to what its saying, DayZ will die, most likely go cult. Lots of ifs there though, I'm not jumping around the room from wall to wall like a seven year old on a sugar rush screaming how good this will be. :p

Good rebuttal, you must practice inbetween grammar lessons.

cool maybe your teachers could lend a hand then if I cared , pointless quote aside explain to me how this company pulled out this mmo out of their ass in less than a 1-3 months then from scratch , no?

""We started thinking about doing a zombie game last year and began developing a quest-based MMO set in a large, zombie-infested world. Players would be able to explore and unlock new areas on the map as they progress through quests assigned to them in-game," explains executive producer Sergey Titov."

This looks like it could be a winner however I hope they don't ditch the permanent death and loss of all items that Day Z has as I think it adds real value to items and stops players becoming "overpowered" keeping a fair playing field for all.

Whats the point in this? One of the massive thrills of DayZ is you can lose everything at any given moment, softcore just gunna be deathmatch?

Maybe you are missing the point of it being an MMO?

It can still have safety zones which you have to get to if you want to log off. If done well this could give you somewhere to aim for each session.

This is going to be another one of those games that's going to be trolled because it's similar to another that has zombies isn't it?

We'll have War Z to DayZ like we had Killing Floor to L4D. Pathetic.

Competition is always good but I wonder what engine they use...

Rocket making DayZ was only possible because the engine was already there.

The development cycle of WarZ is one year which is short not only for an MMO but for a regular game using existing engine.

If they have to create their own engine from the ground up and then also create the game itself then one year is worryingly short especially considering the ambitiously long feature list.

DayZ fanboy detected?

Given the genre and premise, this is like saying Dawn of War is a rip off of Command and Conquer.

I wouldn't that makes him a fanboy. It's zombies and is unecessarily called "War Z" that was my first thought and I haven't even played it.

It of course doesn't mean it won't or can't be good.

How an earth can a small studio create a persistant MMO world/game with in-depth mechanics, in the space of 12 months...and pump content without a sub model? The whole thing makes no sense.

Looks pretty good, and now that there is huge competition between the two, it will make both teams of developers push to get good, tested content out asap
