*** Infestation: Survivor Stories ***

Im highly sceptical about this game, but id love to be proven wrong. I cant see how you have, out of nowhere, that quality graphics over a seamless 400sq k world with all those features. The site promotes 'access to alpha', a closed beta late summer but says the game is released in the autumn, thats from alpha to launch in 4 months tops. The forums are ultra light on details or dev input and are mostly speculation by hopeful players and except for some Announcement PR its been deadly quiet. Im hoping for something solid real soon.

If you took a little bit longer to read the FAQ on their site (linked above) third point:

"How are you guys making this game in only a year ?"

"Well, we're not really developing from scratch. The design and idea for The War Z has been in place for a couple of years - we only just started developing the specific features for the game in the past year. Our team has decades of experience and we are utilizing technology that has been around for several years now and has proven itself in games with over 2 million online players worldwide. We're also relying on a mass of data collected by our friends at Online Warmongers while operating War Inc. Battle Zone."

Well it wouldn't take long to read the FAQ (especially as they missed out filling in anything under the 'skills' question so thats one question skipped) but for the sake of clarity let me rephrase - Im sceptical they can build an engine that has the view range and seamlessness of the Real Virtuality engine but the graphics of UE 4 'in the past year'.

Lol, so am I... but I hope they can make a decent game. I was just being pedantic :p

Just to clarify, WarZ was in development before DayZ emerged.

Actually, I doubt it.

MMOs take years to make, but I seriously doubt this was in development for the same concept it is now before DayZ.
What was more likely was they were making some zombie MMO that's more simillar to WoW or something, then DayZ popped out, they decided that's better and more popular than their current concept, change the GUI, alter a few thousand lines of code and start developing new code, and within a year it might be releasable.
They're riding on the success of DayZ, it'll happen with other developers too soon.

And to dogman, you know that every feature but one listed is also a WoW feature? People think how you accuse others of thinking in actual fact, the features shared with the public are pretty much the same as WoW's with one that isn't. Can you not at all compare it to WoW in this way? He wasn't talking about auto attack and skill bar but 90% of the features are features already in WoW, and it is very close to WoW if it doesn't change those enough to be a difference.

I guess when some people see the term MMO they see WOW :p

Actually i was referring to... Oh i cant be bothered, LTR.

Robo your theory sounds as likely as anything. The gameworld will make or break this game, if they can do WoW style non instanced landscape with that scale of graphics this could be very tasty. Im naturally sceptic though, SWTOR ruined it for me :p

This looks great. Registered for the beta.

As for the DayZ to WarZ comparison, yes they are very similar, and undoubtedly WarZ have hand picked a few features which have made DayZ so popular (Be stupid not to really, considering its just a mod)
But, at the end of the day, DayZ is a mod. A very very unfinished mod with countless flaws and bugs.

I for one will relish a bug free, completed game which follows the same format.

Bring it on!
